When a woman dies in New York City but was poisoned in Arizona, Rick and Kate go undercover as a honeymooning couple at the Wild West Dude ranch where they believe the poisoning took place.

But back home, when the newlyweds tell their friends about their impromptu wedding, Lanie, Esposito and Ryan are upset about being left out.

In Arizona, Rick and Kate immerse themselves in the resort's old west theme and wear the costumes, including real six-shooters. The murder investigation leads to the hunt for 50 bars of gold stolen from the US Treasury over a century ago. Finding the gold and those who died looking for it are what lead to Whitney's death. Turns out her father and his friend searched for the treasure but a third man caused her father's death and killed Whitney to keep her secret.

With the case closed, Kate puts her new hog tying skills to use with Castle. Captain Gates convinces Esposito and Ryan to get over themselves and be happy for their friends...and donate a couple of much needed vacation days to the newlyweds for their wild west honeymoon.
