Alex tells Dominic Nina has gone missing on John's birthday. Sofia drops in on Massimo but Dominic's call interrupts them. Dominic flashes back to a party at Carrie's loft. What he overhears there leads him to investigate a mortgage scheme. He persuades Dominic to get out of that kind of mortgage, over Ed's objections. Carries overdoses and is hospitalized after her exhibition closes. Dominic suggest Massimo cut Carrie loose. In the present, Dominic tells Chris to leave when he insults Massimo. Dominic seeks Massimo's help in finding Nina. In 2008, Massimo and Carrie attend a party at Dominic's house, which takes place just before John leaves for Afghanistan. Dominic has gotten Massimo named head of trading. Carrie overhears the rich women gossiping about her. That drives the recovering Carrie to drink. A drunk Carrie rails at the important people Massimo is trying to impress. At Nina's convincing, Carrie decides to leave Massimo, for his sake. Massimo bets against the U.S. following the mortgage scandal. But Dominic persuades him to go the opposite way. Then Dominic gets the call about John being killed in action. In the present, Massimo takes Dominic to Dominic's cottage, where he and Nina had had one night of passion. Back in 2008, Nina blames Dominic for John's death. Dominic overhears her calling Massimo to take her away. She has him go to Dover, to John's favorite place. They make love. She lies to Dominic upon returning. in the present, Nina took Claire's children to the cottage. Dominic tells Massimo he knew about the affair. He adds that he knew what Massimo's team had done. Massimo goes to Sofia's apartment.
