Recap

Ernest Franklin, Butt Hunter, runs into Cloverton Town Square. He grabs a weapon from his van and turns to confront a Were-Butt. He informs the Butt that the Bureau’s new orders are shoot to kill. He blasts the Butt into bits.

He begins to light a cigarette to commemorate killing the last living Butt. A voice addresses him from the shadows and he turns to find Theodore approaching. Theodore informs him he scrubbed many Butt names from the Bureau’s roster. Franklin notes the plural and realizes he’s surrounded by Butts.

Theodore tells him he needs Franklin to find someone. Franklin, surrounded and outnumbered, agrees.

Vic walks into Star Labs. He looks at the operating table. Silas arrives. Vic tells him about reconnecting with Deric and how Deric thinks Vic should become Cyborg again.

Silas says that he thought VIc would be safer when he gave up being Cyborg, but instead Vic kept doing the hero thing, putting himself in danger only with the armor and tech. Vic admits he still wants to help people. He asks if Silas could look at some ideas he’s come up with.

Someone’s banging on the mansion door and Rouge opens it but tries to close it quickly when she sees Isabel.

Isabel forces her way in. Rouge prepares to fight. Isabel informs her that she’s there to invite everyone to her one-woman theatrical event.

Larry’s digging a grave outside the greenhouse when he notices that he’s bleeding through his bandages. Rama comes to check on him. Larry rejects his attention, commenting not everyone can go on vacation. Rama reminds him it’s not a vacation. He’s going to see where he’s supposedly from. The elements in his body are becoming rapidly unstable. After seeing his homeland, he plans to rent a boat, sail far out into the Bay of Bengal, and turn himself into pure lead while swimming.

Rama asks Larry to come with him. Larry says he needs to prepare his final resting place near the orchids that Keeg can survive in.

Larry blames Rama for the situation since he convinced Larry to give up his longevity so Immortus could return. Rama apologizes and owns his part in it.

Rita’s in the kitchen slicing mushrooms but her hands seize up and she has to stop. She sighs and blobs out. Rouge comes in and asks what she’s doing. Rita explains that releasing her form helps with her arthritis.

Rouge informs her about Isabel’s show. Rita is very chill about the whole Isabel/Immortus thing now. She doesn’t really care not that she’s aging out.

She’s intent on making a family dinner.

Jane’s examining herself in the mirror. She sits down among the puzzle pieces and recalls her duet with Casey in Immortimus Land. She picks up some puzzle pieces and they start fitting together.

When she struggles to put the next pair together, voices start whispering in her head and she’s transported to the Underground.

Everywhere around her are piles of ash with clothing items. She identifies several alts from the clothing items. She calls out for them. She has flashes of Kay’s father taking Kay by the hand. Then of Casey. Then of Kay’s father taking Jane by the hand. A voice in her head demands that she “SAY IT.” She covers her ears and screams and is suddenly back in her room. Cliff is asking if she’s okay.

Cliff asks her to go to Florida with him to see his daughter. She initially says no but he tempts her with an offer to blow up toilets with M-80s.

The alarm goes off.

Rouge does a presentation with images of a growth on Isabel’s neck and Niles’s longevity talisman. They resemble each other and Rouge hypothesizes that the growth is what makes Isabel Immortus and it contains their longevity..

Cliff refuses the mission and heads to Florida. Larry says he can’t risk dying until he’s found a better solution for Keeg. Rita advises Rouge to recognize that there is no mission to lead.

Vic reviews the upgrades on Cyborg’s tech that he and Deric came up with. Silas says it should be doable, but he wonders if it’s what Vic really wants. Vic wants to make sure this time he stays himself instead of losing himself to Cyborg’s tech.

Cliff drives really slowly. Jane asks about it, and Cliff admits that the reality of dying is making him more cautious about being safe. She reminds him they have very little time left so he should drive faster. When he hits the accelerator hard, Jane warns him that they’re going too fast. He can’t move his foot off the pedal.

Jane decides to drive.

Isabel’s show starts. It’s terrible.

Afterwards, the audience questions why they should care. Isabel asks if they think it’ll be ready to open that night and they laugh and can’t stop. Isabel gets angry and blinks them all out of existence.

Rouge takes the opportunity to approach her. By complimenting her performance, she gets in Isabel’s good books.

Dr. Margaret Yu returns home to her Were-Butt partner, Nicholas. She has a message from Teddy. She reads the letter that calls on Nicholas to begin the revolution.

Nicholas refuses to listen and states that he’ll never join Teddy because he wants a life with Margaret.

Margaret begs him to listen to the rest of the letter wherein Teddy tells Nicholas that he’s made it easier so that Nicholas won’t have to choose between Margaret and the Were-Butts. Margaret says she’s sorry before she transforms into a Were-Butt.

Jane starts hearing the “Say It!” voices in her head and nearly drives into oncoming traffic.

She tells Cliff she thinks she has dementia. She tells him about the voices.

She’s tired of trying to figure out what’s happened to the Underground. Cliff says she has the team, but she points out they’re all dying. A hand touches her arm, and she sees Kay’s father in place of Cliff. She swerves off the road and Cliff says they should just go home.

Rouge and Isabel commiserate, both focused on their own lives.

Rouge mentions how she sometimes misses the Brotherhood of Evil and explains to Isabel that they were a gang of mastermind villains. Isabel likes the sound of that. She decides to become a supervillain and casts Rouge as her henchperson.

Rita sits alone at the dinner table, eating. Larry sits down, pointing out that he doesn’t eat. He’s still trying to figure out how to care for Keeg once he’s dead. Rita doesn’t want to talk about dying. Larry asks how she can pretend things are okay.

She brings up how he voted against her for team leader. He says it was a meaningless title. She points out that everyone else on the team has other family, but she only has the team as her family. She took being the team leader seriously, worked really hard to keep them together. Making the family dinner was her last attempt to do something for them, and all she wants is for them to sit down and enjoy it together. She walks away in tears.

Back in human form, Dr. Margaret and Nicholas unpack what has happened. He wants revenge on Teddy. She argues that’ll make him no better than Teddy. She wants him to find another way.

Rita sits by the fire in the living room with a drink, listening to a record. When it skips, Larry’s there to fix it. He brings her another drink.

They reconcile. She asks Larry about Rama. He doesn’t want to share.

Cliff and Jane walk in and they all sit down together by the fire, reminiscing about past adventures.

Jane puts her head down and Cliff pats her back comfortingly. Upstairs, two of the puzzle pieces join together.

Rita expresses her gratitude for this found family and her two lifetimes. She wonders where Rouge is. Cliff points out the handbill for Isabel’s show. Rita is upset and says they have to go help Rouge. No one else is willing to get up for Rouge.

Rita decides to go on her own but collapses.

Rouge is giving Isabel notes on how to conquer the universe. Isabel is so excited she does a spin and a flourish and Rouge gets a good look at the growth on her neck.

Cliff carries Rita to her bed. Larry insists they go get Rita’s longevity back. He implores Jane and Cliff to help him.

They arrive in Cloverton Town Square to find it abandoned. They hear strange noises. Teddy runs across the lawn and announces the holy war shall begin with killing the Doom Patrol. The Cloverton townsfolk come into the square walking like zombies. They transform into Were-Butts.

Inside the theater, Rouge tells Isabel that power comes at a cost. She says that when she saw the future and how she’d left the Doom Patrol to die, she knew that she’d taken the wrong path. She won’t do that again. She transformed her arm into a blade but Isabel freezes her still.

Outside, the Were-Butts prepare to attack. Suddenly a blast knocks them over. Vic in his new Cyborg tech arrives.

Recognizing they’re still outnumbered, the team runs into the theater and bars the doors.

They run into the theater to save Rouge but Isabel/Immortus freezes them too. She’s pissed that Rouge would betray her. She opens a portal into the Time Stream and throws them all in.

Vic? It’s three AM. You okay? Why did you want to meet here? This wouldn’t have anything to do with me singing and dancing in an Immortimus onesie, would it?

Silas
