Recap

If you thought that the only reason Cristal was promoted to the COO position was because she slept with and married Blake, you wouldn't be the only one.

Most people in the company share the same sentiments and believe she's unqualified for the position. One co-worker, Kylie, informs Cristal that her promotion sets women back decades while another takes a different approach and sympathetically tells Blake that she'll become interim COO.

None of this sits well with Cristal who is determined to prove her worth. In her first big move at the company, she rewards Kylie for her honesty by promoting her, while telling Dierde that "people talk" and she's not a fan of two-faced backstabbers.

There was a lot of emphasis on women in the workplace on Dynasty Season 1 Episode 5 as both Cristal and her step-daughter Fallon were nominated for Woman of the Year at a prestigious magazine.

Fallon was only considered because Colby submitted her name to elevate their new business together.

Cristal realizes that she doesn't stand a chance at winning because of her tainted imagine so she schemes up the perfect plot; instead of one woman of the year, what if the magazine recognized all ten on the cover?

Fallon's disgusted and Cristal believes she one-upped her but she should know by now not to  underestimate someone with Carrington blood.

Fallon waves the "I'm friends with your boss" card in front of the magazine editor and threatens to get her fired if she doesn't land the cover.

Sure enough, the next day at the luncheon, Fallon is awarded the cover. In her acceptance speech, she attributes her success to hard work and motivation, selfishly leaving her business partner Colby out of it completely.

Not only is Colby is fed up with Fallon's self-centered attitude, he tells her he needs to rethink going into business with her.

Fallon indirectly reveals to Cristal that she leaked the sex-tape to spite her. In a fit of rage, Cristal sprays her custom dress with Cristal (get it) but that's nothing compared to Blake's reaction.

When she admits to being behind the leak, he tells her he wants nothing to do with her and throws her out of the house.

Despite Fallon's pettiness, Cristal never said anything to Blake, probably in an attempt to protect Fallon.

Without Colby, Cristal and Blake, Fallon apologizes to Culhane but he knows when he's being used. She doesn't have a place to stay so reaches out to him because it's convenient. Just like she only told people he was her boyfriend when it benefited her.

After the office politics, Cristal has an epiphany that she too was being too-faced to Matthew's wife Claudia. She decides to go to Claudia's house and apologize for sleeping with her husband, then lying to her face about it.

In the pilot, Claudia had some sort of amnesia and according to Blake, she's very dangerous and unstable. When Anders tells him what Cristal is up to, he jumps in his car to rescue his wife.

Cristal's plan backfired; she upset Claudia instead of making amends.

As she walks to her car, Blake drives up and mows Claudia down with his vehicle.

I repeat, he hit Claudia with his luxury car.

So now, not only are they responsible for Matthew and Willy's deaths, they have also injured and possibly killed Claudia.

Steven starts his first day at the foundation but things take a turn for the worse when his addict ex-boyfriend walks through the door.

He wants nothing to do with him but the same cannot be said for opportunistic Sammy.

Anders had a heart-to-heart with Cristal's nephew encouraging him to find a "purpose."

For once, Sammy took the advice and reached out to Steven's ex in hopes of landing a job.

Instead, he landed in bed with him and Steven walked in on it all.

Why did Anders and Blake want Sammy to cause mayhem between the two exes?
