Fire Country Season 2 opens in a very familiar place:

Bode and company are fighting back flames in the forests of Northern California.

Sadly, it turns out to be a dream sequence, and we're whipped around by the revelation that Bode is six months into his new prison sentence after heroically taking the fall for drugs that weren't his in Season 1.

He's in Aspen Block now, among the violent offenders. He's been picking fights with the goal of getting close to his nemesis, Sleeper before Sleeper gets to him.

Manny believes in Bode now, but Gabriela has given up on him after being pushed away too many times.

It's while Manny is making a case for Bode that Edgewater is struck by an earthquake, and the men and women of Cal Fire are thrown into action.

Jake and Eve find their new authority put to the test in different ways,

Meanwhile, Bode prepares for his battle with Sleeper, but he finds himself caught off guard and stuck with a shiv during a fight.

As the worst of the earthquake crisis passes, the characters bring us up to speed on their new roles.

Eve feels guilty about taking Manny's job as captain; Gabriela is psyched about becoming a medic (and her new relationship with Diego), and Vince and Sharon have traded places on the topic of Bode.

But for all that drama, it's Bode who's facing the toughest odds.

He enters a knife fight with Sleeper, planning to rid the world of his enemy once and for all -- but the conflict is interrupted by an aftershock.

When the ceiling collapses on Sleeper, Bode recognizes the opportunity to get his redemption arc back on track, and he saves his enemy's life in exchange for a promise to help him clear his name.

Sleeper's confession sends Bode back to Three Rock -- where he arrives just in time to learn that his ex, Gabriela, is now engaged to Diego.
