Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 2
The House of Black and White
We catch up with Arya as she sails into Braavos and is taken to a large plain building known as The House of Black and White.
This is where she hopes to be reunited with Jaqen H'ghar. She knocks on the large doors, but is sent away. Arya sits on the steps reciting her much shorter kill list. Frustrated, she tosses Jaqen’s coin into the water and heads into the city. There she is threatened by a group of young men. Luckily, the man from the House of Black and White scares them off and reveals himself to be Jaqen H'ghar. He returns the coin to her saying, "You lost this."
Brienne and Podrick make their way to an inn for some shelter and food. Pod spots Sansa, who is dining with Lord Baelish. Littlefinger informs her that his marriage proposal has been accepted.
Soon, Brienne interrupts them sharing her story and pledges her service to Sansa. Unfortunately, Littlefinger brings up all of Brienne's failures and Sansa rejects her offer. Though Pod suggests Sansa just released Brienne from her vow, she knows in her heart Sansa is not safe with Littlefinger.
Back at King's Landing, Cersei shows Jaime a box containing a Red Viper and Myrcella's necklace. This is clearly a threat from Dorne, who blame them for Oberyn and Elia Martell's deaths. Jaime promises to personally bring Myrcella home. He will need some assistance though, and enlists Ser Bronn promising him an even better wife and castle.
In Dorne, Ellaria Sand has only one thing on her mind; vengeance. She demands Prince Doran avenge his brother, but the prince is much more interested in peace. When Ellaria threatens him saying the Sand Snakes (Oberyn's daughters) are behind her, he becomes irritated stating they will not mutilate little girls for vengeance.
Tyrion and Varys continue on their way to meet Queen Daenerys in Meereen. Tyrion is feeling restless in their claustrophobic carriage, but Varys reminds him there's a price on his head. The two discuss their past at King's Landing, and Tyrion confesses he liked being Hand of the King; he was good at it. Tyrion begs for a walk and jokes about Cersei killing every dwarf in the world. Ironically, back at the palace Cersei is presented with the head of a dwarf, but is disappointed it's not Tyrion.
At Castle Black, Jon Snow defends his act of mercy during Mance's execution. He assures King Stannis the wildlings will never follow him. The king informs Jon the Northerners are also proving difficult. He offers to legitimize him as Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell, in exchange for his help winning over the North. Though Jon wanted this once upon a time, he plans to refuse the king.
During the Night's Watch election, Sam submit's Jon as a candidate much to everyone's surprise. Ultimately, the deciding vote rests with Maester Aemon and Jon Snow is named Lord Commander.
A Son of the Harpy is captured by Daario Naharis and Grey Worm. Daenerys' council is torn between a fair trial and a quick death. After the meeting, Ser Barristan takes a moment to talk of her father, the "Mad King." Upon hearing of her father's cruelty, Dany decides a fair trial is the right course of action.
Unfortunately, Mossador - her freed Meereenese slave - takes it upon himself to execute the man. Dany sentences Mossador to death for defying her.
The crowd begs for mercy, but after Mossador's execution they hiss and turn on Queen Daenerys. She is rushed away as riots breaks out and the Meereenese people voice their displeasure. Unsure if she had made the right decision, Dany walks out onto the balcony and discovers Drogon waiting for her. She's happy for a moment, but he flies off clearly still resentful of her.
