The day before the trial, Jo learns she is being called to testify in court. She comes clean to Alex about her abusive husband, and that her testifying will be of public record, and that she may have to leave. Alex tells her to stay. Later, Alex tells Meredith he is going to take the two year plea deal so Jo doesn't have to take the stand. Meredith gets angry and tells him not to, but he heads to the courthouse. Alex listen to a voicemail Meredith leaves him pleading with him not to do it.

Richard learns from Eliza that Miranda is handing over his residency program to her. When he confronts Miranda, she tells him she couldn't let her personal feelings get in the way of her decision. Maggie is furious and gets Jackson's help to rile up their co-workers for support.

A building collapse brings chaos to the O.R. The residents learn their landlord knew about the faulty foundation, but didn't fix it. The mother of a child who ended up dying because of the collapse tries to kill him and gets arrested. 

While working on a patient who's cheating on his wife, Owen reveals to Nathan how he had cheated on his first wife, Cristina. They end up bonding more, but then Owen returns home and finds Amelia has taken off and left a letter.

Arizona agrees to get a drink with a flirtatious Eliza.
