It's been a few months since the NCIS: Los Angeles finale, but the team is back! Callen has gone off the grid and undercover much to the surprise of the NCIS crew. As they question the purpose of his mission, they are required by Hetty and Owen to apprehend him as quickly as possible before Callen does something drastic. As Callen makes a deal with the Russians for information, he is required to steal a priceless painting from a rival in order to gather information about Arkady and his whereabouts. Despite being off the grid, Callen garners attention from the LAPD and is chased by both the police department and NCIS. Sam captures him, but let's him go, secretly planting a tracker on him. Callen breaks in and procures the stolen piece for the Russians, but is caught in a double cross. He flees only to come in contact with his fellow agents who apprehend the Russians. While everyone is happy about the collar they are even happier that Callen is back, however Hetty is less then forgiving. Intially believing that he is being fired, Callen is surprised to find that they have a list of gangs that need to be apprehended.
