Monse arrives back in Freeridge for Christmas. Her father is married and has a newborn.

Ruby's family gives Oscar some tamales to take to Isabelle, and they lament that it's his last Christmas there. He mentions that he won't come back, and Ruby asks him if that includes Cesar.

Monse talks to her father and Brandy about how awesome it is at her school and how she feels like she finally found her people at the all-girl school.

Monty tells Monse that they invited her friends to their Christmas party (Jamal and Ruby,and Jasmine) but not Cesar. She has reservatiosn about it.

Jasmine didn't plan on going, but when her passport is expired and she cant't go with her Aunt Lupe and father to see her abuela, she's stuck at home alone.

Jamal doesn't want to go to the party to see MOnse. He eventually talks Ruby into not going too when he brings up Jasmine. But Jasmine shows up at the house.

Monse and Jasmine catch up.

Ruby's parents are upset that Ruby broke up with Jasmine because now he's being insufferable.

Jasmine and Monse go to the store to get booze before going to see Ruby and Jamal, but Vero recognizes Monse and challenges her. Cesar shows up and steps in. Cesar and Monse see each other for the first time in two years.

Flashbacks to when Monse and Cesar hung out after she left to Mayfield. She was with him collecting cash along with a Santos, Joker, but Joker was displeased with how things were going, how much money he was making, and wanted Cesar to beat up someone who stole from them. All of it made Monse uncomfortable, and Joker called Cesar out on taking orders from his girlfriend and being too soft. Cesar relented to the pressure and beat up the guy and it traumatized Monse who broke up with him that year.

Monse tells Jasmine what really happened with Cesar.

Joker and the other Santos are not pleased with how much money they've been making. It's discord among the Santos under Cesar's leadership.

Cesar holds all of his money becuase he wants to pay the others back because of the missing rollerworld money. Vero calls him out on still thinking about them especially her.

Cesar recalls when Monse broke up with him. She can't reconcile with who he has become and how he endangered her life but still says he loves her. She doesn't want to die.

Monse upslifts Jasmine and encourages her to focus on herself more.

Jamal spends time with abuela while avoiding the party. He notices all of her Ensure and doesn't want to leave her and be alone.

Ruby stops by Jasmine's to make up, but she tells him that she's focusing on herself now.

Monty tells Monse that he's not sending her back to her school after winter break.

Jamal returns to Abuelita to ask her if she's sick, and she confirms by telling him not to tell Ruby.
