A swarm of police rush through the Arconia. Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) rush down the stairs and come upon Mabel (Selena Gomez), hunched over a dead body.

The scene cuts to two months earlier. Charles is a former television detective (Brazzos), Oliver is a theatre director "in betwen jobs," and Mabel is a young woman with dark thoughts. They alll currently reside at the Arconia, a luxury apartment on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Charles, Oliver, and Mabel get on the elevator, along with a young man named Tim Kono, who is on the phone discussing a waylaid package.

Once in their respective apartments, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel listen to the true crime podcast All Is Not OK in Oklahoma. The fire alarm goes off and the builiding is forced to evacuate. Charles notices a person in a tie-dyed hoodie going against the crowd, up the stairs.

At the restaurant across the street, Charles continues to listen to the podcast. Oliver intrudes, realizes their mutual obsession, and they immediately start tossing around theories. Mabel shows up, also obsessed with the podast, and joins the discussion. When they return to the Arconia, Lester the doorman informs them that a body has been found on the 9th floor. Charles sneaks Mabel and Oliver up via the freight elevator.

Once on the floor of the scene, the trio comes across the body of Tim, the man from the elevator. The police insist it's a suicide.

Unconvinced, the trio decides to do their own detective work and search for clues in the building's garbage. Oliver suggests they start their own true crime podcast. Mabel find Tim's garbage, full of suicide notes, and they give up their search.

Mabel hears Bunny, a neighbour, talking through the vents. Mabel deduces that Bunny has an important package that belonged to Tim, and informs Charles.

Oliver visits his son, Will, in New Jersey. Oliver's finances are dire and he needs to borrow money. Will refuses, telling his father to give up the expensive apartment. 

Meanwhile, Charles tells Mabel about his dislike for his cruel father. Mabel reveals that she is not a resident at the Arconia, but is renovating her aunt's apartment. Mabel mentions that she used to belong to a crime-solving gang of kids, referentially called the Hardy Boys. Together, Charles and Mabel break into Bunny's apartment and find the late Tim's package. Inside is a beautiful ring.

Together, the trio begins recording their podcast, with Oliver directing and Charles narrating. 

The final shot of the episode rest on a photo of Mabel and her "Hardy Boys" -- a blonde woman, a dark-haired man, and Tim.
