Ben drops into the hoistway.

Flashback to rehearsal with Oliver and Ben, where Ben struggles to understand the material.

Oliver learns that the producers are pulling the plug on his show.

Mable watches episodes of Girl Cop and stares at some pictures he took when Ben crashed into the elevator.

She hallucinates a conversation with Ben where she opens up about being lost despite being an adult. He consoles her.

Oliver, Charles, and Mabel go to Ben's funeral. They are seated in the overflow room as the funeral takes place upstairs.

Mabel starts a conversation with some guy who says he's been investigating Ben's death. He invites her to look at his files. Charles accompanies her.

The guy has some Ben memorabilia, and upon further inspection, they realize the guy is a stalker and is obsessed with Ben.

He drugs Charles and Mabel.

Oliver tries to sneak a review from a reporter who saw a press preview of the show. She tells him that her review would have been bad.

After she leaves, Oliver has a minor heart attack.

In the past, Ben has had a breakthrough during rehearsal.

Mabel and Charles wake up tied in the basement. They think the stalker is the killer.

Mabel tells Charles about when her mom was sick, and Girl Cop kept her company. Her mom also loved the show.

Charles tells her about his interaction with Ben, and Ben revealed that Charles had him fired from a show when he was eight.

The stalker (Greg) returns with tools to torture Mabel and Charles so that they confess to killing Ben. Cops burst in and arrest him.

Oliver's doctor warns him to keep stress down, or it might kill him.

Mabel and Charles brainstorm theories about how Ben might have died with the killer's handkerchief.

Oliver recalls the conversation with the reviewer and envisions his show as a musical.

He excitedly tells Mabel and Charles that he's decided to make a musical. Mabel and Charles have decided to reboot their Only Murders in the Building podcast.
