It's Homecoming and Kara convinces Nurse Jackson to let her go as long as she wears a heart monitor. But Kara is horrified to realize that the other students no longer fear her, they pity her because of her illness and they all think she's going to die.

Nurse Brittany plays escort and convinces Emma to come along. Leo surprises Emma and gives her a rose at the dance but when he comes to Kara's aid, Emma feels second best. Leo struggles to prove that he can still get his soccer scholarship from Stanford University until he realizes that he doesn't want to be seen as the soccer player who survived cancer. He's rather be a regular guy than be pitied.

Nurse Jackson gives Jordi's mom, Eva a hard time but Eva seems to step up for her son. But when the chemo side effects kick in, it's too much for her to take. She bolts from the hospital despite Dr. McAndrew's pleas and relinquishes guardianship of her son, allowing him to become an emancipated minor.
