Alex revealed to Harvey that his stake in the case links back to Harvey ditching him seven years ago. Harvey vied for a role with Alex after PSL would not make him partner. 

Alex brokered a deal that would find the two men being made partner at his firm. But then Jessica offered Harvey a deal, and he accepted it. 

This meant that Alex was the butt of many jokes at his firm and was given terrible cases to work on, before being given a client as a way to get back to being a lawyer. 

But he did not know that he was covering up the whole prison thing and being given bonuses for it. 

Ultimately, Harvey decided to let the case die. 

Meanwhile, Mike turned to Anita for help with the case, and she decided that he would need evidence if she was going to take it. 

However, Harvey ultimately got the last word when he signed over the case, and Anita flipped out. 

Alex showed up at Mike's house and told him the truth about everything, but Mike said he did not know if he could drop the case.
