Erika sits alone at night on Exile during a storm.

In the morning, Erika feels a sense of renewal and purpose. She realizes that she will be targeted based on her choice, no matter what it is.

At the immunity challenge, the castaways welcome back Erika. Erika and Jeff explain the decision that Erika will be making -- to go back in time and switch immunity from Blue Team to Yellow Team or leave things as they are. Erika announces that she smashed the hourglass -- Danny, Deshawn, Evvie, Ricard, Sydney, and Naseer are vulnerable and must now compete for individual immunity.

Deshawn remarks that it's unexpected, but he takes it in stride. Erika passes out the buffs to Shan, Tiffany, Heather, Xander, and Liana. 

The immunity challenge is foot-based. They have to untie a rope and then stack three levels of blocks with their feet. It's a close finish between Sydney and Ricard, but Ricard takes it.

The castaways return to camp. Liana is pleased that she is immune, but she's still contemplating how to use her Knowledge Is Power Advantage since it can only be used at tribal council. 

Danny is upset about the twist. In a confessional, Deshawn says they just have to deal with it whether or not it's fair -- it's a new era.

Ricard, Deshawn, Danny, Shan, and Sydney decide they should vote Evvie out. Deshawn initially felt some loyalty to Evvie, but he doesn't feel like it's enough at this point to save her. 

Danny relays this information to Liana. Liana takes Shan aside, and they discuss it. Shan explains why Liana needs to get rid of Evvie. Liana resolves to stick with her alliance of Shan, Deshawn, and Danny, moving away from Yase.

Xander discusses with Tiffany the plan -- the votes are on Evvie, so he will play his idol for her. Evvie shows up, scared, and hugs Tiffany and Xander. She's grateful to still have them on her side. They contemplate who they want to take out. Evvie suggests Deshawn. In a flashback to the previous night, we see Tiffany tell Evvie about Liana's advantage. Evvie tells Xander about it. Xander realizes that Liana is no longer with Yase -- she's playing her own game. 

Ricard talks with Erika. Deshawn tells Naseer they're thinking about voting Evvie. Xander confers with Sydney and Danny. Xander tells them Evvie is going to be safe. He tells them that Liana has a "steal" advantage. Xander is hoping to stir up paranoia. 

Danny again shares his intel with Evvie, telling her what Xander told him. Liana takes Shan aside again to figure out her advantage exactly, trying to figure out what would happen if she asked someone who had an advantage if it was not on their person. 

Liana approaches Xander and Evvie in the guise of trying to protect them. Xander says he will have the idol on his person the entire time until Jeff asks. In a confessional, Evvie admits that she knows Liana is doing this so she can play her Knowledge Is Power advantage in order to steal it. 

Liana tells Deshawn that his name is being thrown around. He worries that if Evvie plays an idol, he'll go home. Deshawn gets Liana, Shawn, and Danny together and says he wants them to all vote for Sydney. Liana says she will be taking the idol from Xander, so Deshawn shouldn't worry.

Sydney expresses concern over her fate to Xander. Sydney approaches Liana and Shan with the same worry. Liana reassures Sydney that she will be doing something to ensure Evvie goes home.

The castaways arrive at tribal council. Jeff asks them how it feels. Danny says this is one of the top arenas in which he's played. Sydney says she was just hoping for something different, and she's happy to play with new people. Liana remarks how fast-paced it feels now. Tiffany says it's season 41, but Erika's twist was still huge. Shan notes that there are so many advantages to work around, but it comes down to relationships. Deshawn laments that his social skills are not as valued as they should have been. Evvie says she's nervous, but she's glad she has Xander. Xander shows off his idol for everyone. Liana says that Yase has been strong this whole time. Evvie says she and Xander have always been tight. Deshawn says Evvie had told him about Xander's advantage some time ago. 

Liana reads her advantage and asks Xander if he has an idol. He does not have it. Suspecting Liana's disloyalty, he gave it to Tiffany earlier to hold on to. Evvie thanks Liana sarcastically for lying to her, and tribal goes live. 

Everyone gets up and whispers. Deshawn and Sydney's names get thrown around. Two huddles form at tribal. It's still unclear how the vote will go. 

Jeff brings out the votes. Sydney announces that she played her shot-in-the-dark -- but it didn't work, and she is not safe. Xander tells Tiffany not to play the idol for Evvie. 

Sydney is voted out in a 5-4-3 split, with Evvie receiving four votes and Deshawn receiving three.
