Barry's going to save Wally by going back into the speed force. H.R. suggests a safety precaution. Jesse wants to go, too. Barry convinces her to stay. Barry tells Iris he'll get Wally back. Cisco, Caitlin, and Julian work on ways to keep Barry tethered to Cisco so they can pull him out if he gets stuck.

Before he leaves, Barry asks Iris if he ruined things. She doesn't answer. Joe takes a moment to comfort Barry. Iris and Barry share a tense goodbye before Cisco vibes Barry into the speed force. He finds himself at the police department, and the first person he sees there is Eddie.

Eddie asks why he came back. Barry says it's to save Wally. He asks where he is. Eddie says he's in the prison Barry created. Eddie says they won't be as accommodating this time because he created Flashpoint. Barry refuses to leave without Wally. Eddie reminds him they both made choices and now they have to live with them. A time wraith chases Barry.

Next, Barry encounters Caitlin, who's holding the baby girl she had with Ronnie. Ronnie points out they made sacrifices for him. And Wally's doing the same thing. Barry admits he wants to take his place. Ronnie says he has to free himself first as the time wraith attacks him. Barry pulls off the emblem, which had been keeping him tethered to Cisco. Back on Earth-1, Team Flash worries when they lose contact with Barry.

After escaping from the wraith, Barry finds Wally. He's reliving his mother's death over and over again. Captain Cold shows up and stops Barry from rescuing Wally. Cold isn't impressed with Barry trying to get Wally to save Iris. He explains that Leonard Snart learned how to be a hero from Barry. He's the reason he sacrificed himself. He was a hero. Barry says he's done being a hero. Cold agrees and says that's the problem.

Jay arrives to save Barry from Cold. It's the real version of him. Cisco sent him after they lost contact with Barry. Cold attacks both of them, but Barry finally steps up. He protects Jay, and then he rescues Wally. Jay is impressed, but he has to stay behind. There has to be a speedster inside the force. Jay gives Barry his helmet and says he can use it to get back to Cisco. Barry promises to return for Jay one day. He and Wally return to STAR labs.

While they were in the speed force, Jesse attempted to take on Savitar on her own. H.R. did his best to try and stop her, but she told him to stop trying to be her father. But when Savitar got the upper hand and told Jesse he had plans for her, H.R. was able to help her find Savitar's weakness. He's just a man beneath the armor. Once she was freed, Jesse told Wally she wanted to go to Earth-3 and protect it in Jay's absence. Wally told her that he loved her. She returned the sentiment, but left anyway.

Joe gave Iris some much needed clarity. When Barry returned home, she told him that she doesn't care about the future. She wants to be his wife. Barry loves her, but he admits he proposed for the wrong reasons. He thinks they should take some time apart. He plans to save her, but for now, he wants space. He decides to stay with Cisco.
