Ofmatthew has spent over a month in the hospital following her breakdown. She hasn't been alone though as Junes punishment is to keep watch; kneeling at the foot of her bed. June and the other Handmaid's treatment of Ofmatthew was the catalyst that sent her spiraling and for that, June has to pay. The wives come to pray over Ofmatthew and her unborn baby and Aunt Lydia brings the other Handmaids as well. June pleads with Aunt Lydia to let her go home, but Aunt Lydia tells her that she will only be allowed to return home when Ofmatthew is better. June steals a scalpel from a sharps container and contemplates who she should attempt to kill first. When Serena Waterford shows up June sees an opportunity and tries to attack her with the scalpel. June is much too weak and although she manages to cut Serena's arm, Serena is able to overpower her and get the scalpel away, cutting June's hand in the process. Serena doesn't tell the doctor what happened, but he figures it out as he's stitching up June's hand. June and the doctor share a conversation and he informs her that he knew her mother. The isolation in the hospital room is starting to take a toll on June's mental health and she begins to think she is hearing and seeing things that aren't there. June realizes that she is really seeing the little girls in pink in the hospital and overhears the doctor explaining that they're there to be checked because they will be ready to have babies in a few years. Janine visits June and talks her out of killing Ofmatthew; and also tells June how selfish she has become. Ofmatthew ends up having an emergency c -- section and June gets the opportunity to go home. She sees more of the little girls dressed in pink like Hannah and asks Aunt Lydia if she can stay with Ofmatthew instead. Aunt Lydia grants her wish; and as June sits with Ofmatthew she apologizes for her behavior and promises her that she will get her son and as many other children as she can out of Gilead.
