When a DEA agent is murdered after a drug raid goes bad, the FBI is called in and realizes that the drug cartel has an inside man on the team. Unfortunately for Agent Abbott, it brings him face to face to the one man who knows his deep, dark secret and is willing to use it against him.

Abbott confides in Patrick Jane who offers his help as Abbott worries that he might face jail time and that if his secret is exposed that it will ruin his wife's career. But first there is a killer to catch and using Vega's help, Jane executes a plan that has the killer firing at Agent Cho. Luckily the gun's bullets have already been replaced with blanks. Jane even manages to help Agent Abbott with his problem too.

Later, Teresa helps Patrick celebrate his birthday back at his Airstream. Lights are strewn, a candle adorns the top of a cupcake and Lisbon has a very special present. It's his blue teacup from the CBI all glued back together looking almost perfect. Jane is touched by the thoughtful gift.
