On tonight's episode of The Mysteries of Laura Season 1 Episode 21, Laura and the team investigate the recent murder of man who was an amateur detective. As they investigate him more they realize he was obsessed with solving a cold case about a woman named Raquel who was murdered before her prom. The victim put together a movie and invited all the people who were possibly involved in the case to a film premiere which would reveal who the killer was, but two minutes of the film was "lost" and this is the footage they need to solve the case. 

Laura and Billy go to the Tribeca Film Festival where they find an original copy of the film and which shows who the killer is -- the boyfriend of Raquel, Ethan, killed her because she cheated on him and he killed the filmmaker because he was getting too close to the truth. 

Meanwhile, Laura and Jake's relationship is filled with tension when she invites Tony to come on vacation with her and the boys. Jake tries to convince Laura he's OK with Tony going on vacation with her and the boys, but it's clear it's hurting him way more than she thought it would. Jake goes to drown his sorrows in a couple drinks and heads to a gas station to get some things, but when shooter comes into the station demanding money, Jake takes a stand and protects an innocent bystander and gets shot in the chest.
