This is Us Season 4 Episode 2 revolves around the end of summer.

During the Big Three's childhood, Rebecca wants to take the kids to the pool for the end of summer. They're in seventh grade now and Jack predicts correctly that they won't want much to do with their parents.

At the pool, the kids all go off with their friends. Rebecca is especially worried that Kate's friends are mean girls who will bully her, but Kate rebuffs her attempts to check on her. Across the pool, Randall gets upset with Kevin when Randall's friends are more impressed with Kevin's rap skills than Randall's, leading Kevin to ask Jack if he is a good person.

Meanwhile, the adult Randall wants to plan a family fun day for the end of summer, but Tess wants a haircut and Deja wants Randall to accompany her on the bus so he can see she knows how to ride it. This ends up being a disaster, though, because Randall sees a weird guy talking to Deja, chases him off, and tells Deja she's too young to ride a bus to school herself.

Meanwhile, Kevin must choose between being there to support Kate and his career when he gets a call for a movie in Chicago, while Kate and Toby meet with a specialist to learn the best ways to raise a blind child.

This Is Us Season 4 Episode 2 Quotes

I am in way over my head with my sister and her son. He was premature and we just found out he was blind. I go to all his doctor's appointments but I don't know what to say.

Kevin

Jack: Next week, those pre-pubescent monsters are not longer our problem between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM.
[Jack and Rebecca high five]
Rebecca: I hated that high five. Hey, can we do something fun? I feel like we haven't seen the kids all summer.
Jack: That's because they're going into seventh grade. They don't want anything to do with us.
