Recap

Gorgeous cinematography as they ride up the mountain, and Beth can't be bothered. It's too much for her. She prefers things a little more personal. She doesn't like to share the things she finds beautiful. Every time Rip looks at her, he knows exactly what she means.

On the res, Mo's house is shaking. Military helicopters are flying overhead.

There is a full-scale military operation going on. When Mo heads into the Broken Rock reservation, the military informs them of an event. Mo says no event cn take place without the tribal council leader's knowledge.

The military is shooting dogs dead in the street. They've got me rankled up to about 1000%.

The president is visiting.

Jamie and Sarah are in bed. He's trying to figure out what she's doing here. She wonders if he's calling her a whore. She whines about it, listing off his credits.

Her motive is to get him elected as governor, reinstate their lease, and all that jazz.

Summer is looking through family albums. Outside, she heads down to the cowboys, where Monica is helping Gator prepare. She wants to go for a hike and asks for directions. After a chiding from Monica, she helps peel potatoes.

They talk about Beth. Monica says she's no threat to Beth, but it appears she thinks Summer is. Is she? Summer doesn't know what this place represents. It doesn't represent anything. It looks the same as it did 100 years ago.

Tate is super excited to see cattle. Kayce walks him though how to approach them. Everyone is having a ball. Clara rides up saying it's fucking awesome. She's too excited to nap.

Rainwater finally arrives at the "event." It's that pain in the ass Angela Blue Thunder. She's having the president there to endorse Martin. Rainwater says if he gave it to him, he'd give it back.

Monica finds Summer in the family cemetery. She always sounds curt. She stops at the tiny grave. Monica says she means it when she says they give everything to this land. Summer is stopped in front of Margarget's and Elsa's graves.

Rip finds Beth napping cowboy style, hat over her eyes. She's shocked that she napped, as she never does it.

He's got something to show her, and they take a ride to get there. It's more her kind of beautiful where he takes her. She's moved to tears. It's the location he'd chosen for the wedding.

He binds the horses, gives them a rest, and gives Beth some vodka. All she needs now is a cigarette, and he retrieves one. She said she's blowin' him anyway. He doesn't have to work so hard.

She needs cigarettes, whiskey, a meadow, and Rip. He tells her to shut the fuck up and watch the sunset with him, but she says fuck his sunset, he can watch her. Sunsets are overrated anyway.

The older fellow brought a blanket, and John's jealous. He's found perfection to be fleeting, but today, he was almost proven wrong.

The cowboys whine about early mornings with no coffee.

Rip waters their horses while Beth watches, naked under her coat.

John heads back to his old friend to find him passed away. Clara rides up. They'll need that satellite phone after all. John sits beside his old friend, saying goodbye without words.

The branding festival is waiting for the cowboys and the herd to arrive. Monica is nervous, but relieved when she sees them all riding in.

Of course, John and Clara aren't with the rest, having stayed behind with Emmett. They need to hurry because he can't have Emmett's wife see everyone riding in without him.

As John and Rip agree there's no better way to go, John heads to find Emmett's wife to convince her of that.

It's as if she knows. She greets him as soon as he reaches the tent, crying. The press circles the cameras to catch their tender moment.

John shares with Emmett's wife his last moments, and she cries into his arms.

Summer has a hard time with the rodeo part of the festivities. Ryan is showing off for his gal.

Carter gets called in to help. Teeter calls John over. They're ready. It's hard work, and shortly, the cattle are back in the field.

They'll push them up the valley tomorrow and bring in the next bunch.

They're serving a fabulous feast!

Lynelle worries after Emmett's wife and then asks about Summer. She calls him politically illiterate. There are never ugly women in bad spots around him. And yes, she's kind of jealous, even if she's dating the secretary of energy.

Lynelle tells him the president will be in Helena, and John should go. John says if he wants to meet with John, he'll have to come to him.

John heads over to Summer and asks about today. Parts of it were beautiful and parts were heartbreaking. He sees a little of both, too, and they agree they likely only agree on the beautiful part.

Beth and Rip watch the festivities from up on the hillside. Beth calls him sensitive, saying she's the only one who knows about it. She loves that it insults him.

Someone asks Carter to dance, and he says he doesn't know how. John asks Summer to dance, but she says maybe he should ask his milf senator. Summer says to stop sending so many mixed signals if he wants a simple relationship, and find a simple woman. Lynelle doesn't want to step on the inmate's toes.

Ryan's lady asks if there's still no future, and they agree that it just goes until it doesn't

Jamie and Sarah are still naked on the couch when the news reveals that the governor won't be visiting the president in Helena. They have the story of Emmett's death, and the news anchors are thrilled with the turn of events. Jamie says he'd be hard to beat in a fair fight. Sarah says they can't let him show up. Next week the conniving duo finds what they believe is an impeachable offense.
