Gotham Promo: Jim Gordon Does What He Wants

The countdown has begun for Gotham Season 3, and the character vignettes keep coming.

After Hugo Strange was arrested at the end of Gotham Season 2 Episode 22, Jim left Gotham to find Lee. We don't know what he was thinking when he did that.

Did he really think she would welcome him with open arms after he did what he did to her? Him dumping her while he was in prison was not a selfless act on his part.

Lee - Gotham Season 3

She was pregnant with his child and willing to stand behind her man, but he didn't want to be bothered or reminded, despite his looking at her picture day after day. Were we supposed to feel sorry for him for his self-imposed prison in regards to her?

He wasn't doing her any favors. He did her a disservice, and all the stress he caused her made her lose the baby. Did Jim really have any remorse when he found out the news from Harvey? Not really. Not in our opinion.

The right thing to have done was go to Lee when Falcone and Harvey broke him out of prison. He should have taken care of business with her first, then he could have come back to Gotham and cleared his name.

Instead, he chose to clear his name, and when that was done, he still didn't leave. Him keeping his promise to Bruce was more important than trying to make amends with the woman he supposedly loved.

Praying - Gotham Season 2 Episode 22

Whatever, Jim. He is the worst person on the planet. There is nothing redeemable about him right now, and it's rather arrogant of him to think of himself as the savior of Gotham. He really needs to have his head examined.

He never deserved Lee, and quite honestly, we never liked the two of them together, anyway. Lee was too cloying, too in your face, and too much of a busybody in his work life. While he and she may be a couple in real life, it didn't really work on screen. Not for us anyway.

Who Jim needs is Barbara. No matter what anyone says, there's still heat between the two of them. Jim will always love Barbara, no matter what she did to Lee. (And Lee isn't so innocent in that whole scenario anyway, but that's a rant for another day.)

Still, there isn't much hope for them getting back together. But, there is the possibility that they might work together in the future considering he's a bad boy bounty hunter, and she's the co-owner of a new, hot nightclub.

Jim might as well just cross completely into the dark side, because he's already more than halfway there. He needs to get to the bottom of this dark well then climb back out, and give us the Jim Gordon Gotham really needs, wants, and deserves. We know it's in him, because we saw a glimpse of it in season one.

Maybe all his drinking will allow him to fall into that well faster. It'll be better that way to get it over more quickly. Because, honestly, this self-pitying, wallowing Jim Gordon is getting on our nerves.

Jim Gordon, Bounty Hunter - Gotham Season 3

The one thing that still bothers us most, and needs to be reconciled before he can become the new Jim Gordon is he has to atone for what he did to Galavan. The fact that he still denies having anything to do with Galavan's death does not sit well in our books.

Maybe Galavan's murder is the thing that will haunt Jim forever, but we just want him to at least admit what he did to someone. Maybe even a simple apology to Penguin would suffice, because no matter how hard he tries, he'll never be able to erase that fact. Besides, Penguin should not have had to suffer for Jim's actions.

It's not that Penguin is Mr. Living on the Right Side of LIfe, but give him a break. We all know if Gordon wouldn't have shot Galavan, Penguin would have snuffed the life out of him in the slowest, most painful way possible. But, that still doesn't mean that Penguin should have taken the rap for what Jim did.

But, for now, all of that is a minor point considering everything else going on in Gotham. Not that we're giving him a free pass...this issue still needs to be addressed at some point.

I see you - Gotham Season 2 Episode 22

For now, Jim has become a bounty hunter and is catching monsters just for the money. It probably pays better, that's for sure. And, like he says in the video, he can do what he wants when he wants. As if he was never able to do that before.

What transformations would you like Jim to make this season? Should he stay a bounty hunter or go back to the GCPD? Should he get back together with Lee or should he just give it up completely? Does he even have a choice?

Check out the video below, and let us know what you think about Jim Gordon and his self-pitying self.

Gotham returns on Monday, September 19 at 8/7c on Fox.

You have been very useful, and us arrogant physicians have much to learn from a madman like you. But not much.

Professor Strange

Ed: Barbara, do you even remember how amazing you were?
Barbara: I'm still amazing. I just made a choice.
