The X-Files: David Duchovny on 'Ships and Mulder's Resiliance

at .  Updated at .

When it comes to the relationship between Mulder and Scully on The X-Files Season 11, David Duchovny thinks Chris Carter has been smart about the relationship between Mulder and Scully.

And, he assures fans, you may think you want the sex things between the beloved characters, but at the age they are now, you do NOT want the sex thing. Surely, he jests!

Duchovny never seems to stray from his trademark sense of humor.

When it comes to people who 'ship the relationship between his character and Gillian Anderson's, he has no desire to do it.

If anything, he hopes he can forget the conversations he has daily by the time he gets back on set so he doesn't let anything weigh too deeply on his mind that could interrupt the acting he does when in character as Fox Mulder.

That kind of dedication is highly appreciated.

Duchovny doesn't have any unrealistic expectations about the truth or how experienced FBI agents might perceive him, but he's proud of Mulder's resilience given his track records.

To get the full story on Duchovny's thoughts in front of and behind the camera, watch the full interview below.

The X-Files returns on Fox Wednesday, January 3 at 8/7c.

The X-Files Quotes

O'Malley: Oh. Those don't roll down. I had the vehicle bulletproofed.
Mulder: Because you never know when a gun-toting liberal might go Hinkley.

Scully: I'm always happy to see you.
Mulder: And I'm always happy to find a reason.
