Gossip Girl Round Table: "Remains of the J"

at . Comments

As fans gather in our Remains of the J" include memorable quotes, Jenny's birthday party, Nate and Blair's spark, Vanessa and Chuck, and Dan's mysterious half-brother ...

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: Vanessa, displaying her adorable innocence to Chuck: "I came to you because I wanted to do something besides feel sorry for myself, but all it's been has been sleazy platitudes and you staring at my boobs."

Gossip Guy: As much as the idea of anyone sleeping with Vanessa sickens me, I love when Vanessa is disgusted by Chuck's idea to leak a sex tape and his response is "we don't have to leak the tape if you don't want to."

Mister Meester: Tie between V's "it's just physical" (snap, Nate!) and Dorota's theory on Nate running late: "Maybe girl from Brooklyn cry ... Mr. Nate nice boy, he wipe tears, he touch her hair, she touch his ... not that this ever happen to me." LOL.

2. Favorite failed Kelly Rutherford pregnancy-concealing device: flowy orange top, sitting awkwardly with knees on sofa, or standing far away with huge coat in the lobby?

DANdy: What about hiding behind a pot of chili? Rutherford is just lucky Rufus' specialty involves the only cookware larger than her baby bump.

Mister Meester: The other stuff was subtle enough, but the full-on (bright orange no less) maternity top Lily wore at breakfast? Way to call attention to the pregnancy.

Gossip Guy: Definitely her awkwardly sitting on the sofa. The producers either need to get better at this, or take a note from How I Met Your Mother where they even make on-screen jokes about Alyson Hannigan's baby bump via a hot dog eating contest.

3. Who was most at fault for the party debacle, Serena or Jenny?

Mister Meester: Definitely Serena. After all Jenny's been through, the fact that she wanted a low-key affair at home should have been embraced, not ignored. Especially not just to prove herself to that stuck up b!tch Poppy. Nice hair, snob.

DANdy: By "party debacle," I assume you mean the fact that Serena wore a dress that scarcely showed off her cleavage. She has no one to blame but herself for that faux pas.

Gossip Guy: Oh, please, definitely Serena. I would have turned that lame soiree into a kegger if Jenny didn't.

4. Do Nate and Blair have a spark?

Gossip Guy: Eww no. Why the did Nate just lay there so awkwardly when Blair tried to kiss him. Might we want to set up Nate with Eric at this rate? If you want to see spark, just re-watch any episode with Chair!!

DANdy: No. But don't blame yourself, B. Nate only has chemistry with his hair stylist.

Mister Meester: Nate isn't exactly Mr. Fireworks, as evidenced by his blink-and-you-miss-it visit to Blair's after dumping Vanessa, and when he passed on the chance to hit it with her in Chuck's bed, but the scene at the end was pretty romantic. Maybe a best friend and a good guy is just what B needs in a man. At least for a couple of days.

An Infamous Kiss
Chuck and ...

Nair? Vuck? The Gossip Girl world has been turned upside down.

5. Will Chuck and Vanessa hook up again?

Mister Meester: I'm actually intrigued by this for two reasons: 1. Vanessa allying with Chuck Bass in their jealousy game was the most interesting thing she's ever done, and 2. His heart may belong to Blair, but does he also like Vanessa a little? That look at the end didn't exactly scream "get out, useless home-schooled Brooklyn documentary girl." I'm interested to see where C and V go from here.

Gossip Guy: Excuse me, I had to just swallow the vomit that almost came up.

DANdy: Again?!? There's a good chance they haven't stopped hooking up yet!

BONUS QUESTION: How did Scott find Dan, and what is he after?

DANdy: He read Dan's piece in The New Yorker and he's after advice from the author. Am I the only one that watched this episode?

Mister Meester: I think whomever wrote this question is trying to ask is whether Scott (if that's his real name) actually "knows," as his parents say, about his relationship to Dan, or whether he's just a fan. You have to think he figured it out and is after Lily's money or something. After all, how good a writer could Dan be?

Gossip Guy: Well obviously Scott got his mother's pretentious genes and read The New Yorker. Now what is he after? I'm going to assume it's not the Humphrey fortune.

I just shake my head at the Nair fans. Nair is so boring not to mention the non-existent chemistry. Whatever though. I won't even mention CV..do not like. I can't wait for Chair!! They'll be awesome to watch as a couple. Loved what the round table peeps said!

YEAY NAIR! They were just so cute and sweet together! Especially in last scene! OMG THAT WAS JUST SO AWESOOOME!! Go writers, you're doing a great job! CV is gross, but better them than Blair with Chuck. C and V are both hypocrites who don't attend school anyway. At least Nate and Blair are future oriented! I love it when Blair said that Chuck was just something she had to get out of her system and Nate is her destiny. WOOT. The real king and queen of the UES are back! OYEAH! :D

i so agree with queen e blair and nate feel right, forget about chair!

VUCK!? Thats not even a real name... come oooon! CHAIR thats sounds right, hey i´ll even go with Nair BUT VUCK!? It rimes with duck... its nasty... just nasty...

Really quick:
I think the girl in bed with chuck could be georgina On another note totally serena's fault for the party and who is surprised? She has always been selfish and never able to apologize first. She can't take her punishment ever and always skips out. That is her MO, however Poppy's boyfriend falling for Serena? I just want to say that is Karma, because Poppy was the one that told Serena to let her light "shine" and encouraged her to hurt Blair (who had her boyfriend stolen by Serena too). Stupid that Rufus and Lilly blame Jenny for that, I would have acted out too and we know Lily would have too! Chuck and V? Starting to not believe in Chair anymore. Blair fault hard for him and the only thing he can think of to do to get her back is sleep with her enemy? What a jerk. However I also don't like Nate. I mean honestly have the writers been paying attention? He wants to be with Blair "but not like that", in the bed of Chuck or what? He slept with her best friend at the same wedding she attended, he slept with another mans wife while the man was in attendance, but he can't work up some lust for Blair? Their relationship screams middle school. She needs a man not a school boy. Serena needs to grow up and learn to pay the consequences for her actions. Chuck, if he truly loves blair needs to learn to fight and lose the oil, and right now i like v more than I do lily and rufus. I think V would at least have stuck up for Jenny.
The writers need to get it together, because if I can't have Chair I need something interesting too watch that involves growth of some sort in the characters. So far we have seen everyone become slightly less mature in season 2 with the exception of Eric who seems to be in a stable relationship and staying out of most of the craziness. And if it means no more nate and blair airtime, i would rather see eric and jonathan.... Go JERIC!

you guys have got to simply stop sippin on that hator-rade it's getting tiring...V is hot and cool
so deal!

I am a diehard CHAIR fan but I am also a sucker for 'awwwwww' moments which I have to admit Blair and Nate did have so I didn't mid too much. I also realised recently that while CB got me hooked on the show, it is not the only reason I watch. I (did) like Derena and of course all the OMFG moments. Yes, they are the main reason, but as others have pointed out, it (sadly xD) isn't the Chuck & Blair show so rather then miss out on a great overall program coz my fave pairing isn't together, I will just content myself with the series finale spoilers etc haha But I do have a theory about the CV 'thing'. I mean, think about it, Chuck is so hot and awesome (as a character) and, well Chuck Bass, that he could have chemistry with a wall! nt to mention the actors are dating. As for Vanessa liking it well great sex is great sex and we really are only human and you don't have to be in love with someone to enjoy it... That said, I would put my money on it being Chuck just taking the oppotunity to finish what he started ages ago with the whole ruin Vanessa by suducing her plot (hence the morning after) so it is just an act tha he might like her.. Lol well I hope it just that (or simular) is anyways!

Totally agree, Mary. V hides Nate's letter to Jenny, but Jenny is the one that gets really hurt. Hell, Vanessa was embarassed at the dance, but she didn't even go to the frickin' school! Then Vanessa blackmails Blair, even though she's supposedly a "a strong girl with good morals." Vanessa should shove it up her ***. She's also tried to steal Dan from Serena and now she sleeps with Chuck. She is a hypocrite that thinks she's better and smarter than everyone else. She criticizes everyone but herself, but in the end, everyone feels sorry for her because she's poor and thinks that she's "a nice girl". Puh-lease! I ABSOLUTELY HATE HER. At least when she was with Nate, she stayed out of trouble, but now, she goes and comes between CHAIR?!?!?!?!?!!? That little slutty, snobby, manipulative, evil monster has gone too far. GET RID OF HER. PLEASE. I don't care if she falls off a cliff and DIES, just CUT HER. ALL my friends and I just HATE HER.

"Nate only has chemistry with his hair stylist."
I totally LOL-ed at this comment.

Chuck and Vanessa : I think I died a little inside Blair and Nate : It's okay for the first five minutes, but you can't help but fall asleep. *yawn Critique : Bring back Chair, beacause now, when I watch GG, I'm either barfing (CV), or sleeping (NAIR), with the occasional laughs (Dorota, Dan) However, I must say, Serena made quite a comeback.

Gossip Girl Season 2 Episode 20 Quotes

Dan: What does Chuck Bass do at 8 in the morning? It's not like you work out.
Chuck: I do my cardio in the evenings. The morning is for business, which I am late for.

Eric: Does this feel like a sitcom to anyone else?
Dan: More like a reality show.
Chuck: Then I can vote you off.
