Round Table: "A Southern Gentleman Prefers Blondes"

by at . Comments

Welcome to the Gossip Girl Round Table! The Gossip Girl Insider staff comes together each Tuesday to analyze the burning questions, classic quotes and memorable moments from the previous evening's episode of our favorite show.

This week's hot Gossip Girl topics include memorable lines and fashion statements, the future of Nate and Blair, Rufus proposing to Lily, Gabriel's scheme and much more.

Sound off below or in our ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode?

DANdy: When Gabriel asks Poppy what the hell Butter is. Ha! Like anyone well-connected in New York City would not be familiar with this popular hot spot, owned by Paula Abdul's ex-boyfriend, JT Torregiani.

Gossip Guy: It may be the Chair fan in me, but I got all giddy through the whole scene where Chuck and Blair met up while she was spying. We'll give the best quote to Chuck Bass for noticing the beret and immediately asking who she's spying on.

Mister Meester: This week was a tie for me. First, Gabriel telling Poppy, "Serena didn't steal me. She swept me away." Awful. No self-respecting dude would say that, even in the midst of an investment scam. Second, I was wondering how Blair could possibly know Gabriel's story was bogus when she said: "I know for a fact Butter was closed that night because I used their bartender for the Nelly Yuki SAT sabotage party!" Genius.

2. Best fashion moment of the night - Chuck's basketball attire, Serena's "dress" at the co-op party, or the "OMJC" shirts at Georgina's camp?

DANdy: Gotta go with Serena's "dress." I liked how it drew attention to her "giant boobs."

Mister Meester: OMJC was a hilarious touch, but you gotta go with Serena wearing lingerie to an upscale party. Also great? After trying that cleavage-baring undershirt dress on, she opted for another, but Blair made her change back.

Gossip Guy: Oh this is an easy one, definitely Chuck's basketball uniform. A close second is his purple bowtie he wore with a pink shirt.

3. Harder to believe: The distance between NYU and Columbia constituting a long-distance relationship, Lily and friends forking over cash in minutes in this economy, or any scene involving Vanessa?

Mister Meester: I can buy Lily's loose purse-strings, as it was a feel-good investment in a start-up company that was probably a drop in the bucket for her, given Bart's billions. V's drunken scene didn't bother me too much either. Even Nate worrying about his "long-distance" relationship made some sense, until he got the apartment of course. They'd both be willing to go three miles to school, but not six to see each other?

DANdy: The NYU-Columbia conundrum. It's one thing to understand your girlfriend and allow her to enjoy the occasional scheming, Nathaniel; it's another to acquiesce completely to her spoiled, non-subway riding nature and shell out such big bucks on a luxury apartment. Especially in this economy.

Gossip Guy: Phew. I thought I was going to have to think about this and then you gave me the easy out. Definitely the useless Vanessa. Did we really need her pointless "I Never" scene? Ooh, she made the big reveal about Rufus not having enough money to send Dan to school. Big whoop. He knew that, retard. Did you not hear about his catering job?

4. Should Rufus propose to Lily?

Gossip Guy: Yes! It would solve all your financial problems and score you the incredibly hot Lily. Plus, with Kelly Rutherford's pregnancy, we have a natural storyline where Serena and Dan get a half brother / sister. Can't wait!

DANdy: Is the sky blue? Are Sasha and Malia Obama the cutest kids on the planet? Should Chuck install a camera in Serena's bedroom that allows viewers watch every minute of her action between the sheets? Yes!

Mister Meester: Totally. I've always loved these two together, and weird step-sibling issues / love child aside, I have a feeling the fifth time will be the charm for Lily.

Blair and Nate Photo

Are these two bound for unexciting, domestic bliss in Murray Hill?

5. Should Blair move in with Nate?

Mister Meester: Yes. If only to see the ploys - dressing up as the pizza delivery guy, calling in a bomb threat from his limo outside, leasing the place next door, etc. - Chuck would conjure up to disrupt Nair's domestic love nest.

Gossip Guy: No way! Blair held Chuck's hand while they slept in the limo and that was way hotter than all her moments with Nate combined.

DANdy: No. Considering their age (18) and her near-actions this week (getting Chucked by her ex in the backseat of a limo... again), it's probably too soon for this couple.

BONUS QUESTION: What do you predict will happen next in the Serena-Poppy-Gabriel saga?

DANdy: Rufus will go bankrupt as a result of the scheme. The family will try to sell Vanessa on the black market to make back its money... but no one will buy her.

Mister Meester: Poppy and Gabriel have clearly devised a plan to bilk Serena's family and friends. The question is who will take them down. All I know is that it had better involve Georgina Sparks going undercover. I cannot wait for the reformed, Jesus-loving girl we witnessed last night to drop the act and revert to normal.

Gossip Guy: I get bored of this crime caper story line that feels out of place in Gossip Girl.

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? - Chuck and Blair definitely delivered this episode, but, C is a def winner with his "If you need to mark your territory, you might as well just pee on her." If that did not make you crack up, i do not know what will. 2. Best fashion moment of the night - Chuck's basketball attire, Serena's "dress" at the co-op party, or the "OMJC" shirts at Georgina's camp? - I'm used to seeing BL's cleavage and legs, seriously, I know she has it, but does she have to flaunt it ALL THE TIME? C's b-ball attire definitely comes to a close second to OMJC shirt. That was LOL. 3. Harder to believe: The distance between NYU and Columbia constituting a long-distance relationship, Lily and friends forking over cash in minutes in this economy, or any scene involving Vanessa? - I don't live in NY and don't really what exactly equals as far there, I tend to believe that Lily is as smart as Serena when it comes to (supposedly) hot men, and Vanessa is just stupid. i would actually have to say the fact that N.Archibald wants to buy an apartment, like, what? You just lost your whole fortune for crying out loud. What? Does he expect to get some moolah from Grandad after dissing him like that? Or maybe even doing some gold-digging with B? 4. Should Rufus propose to Lily? - I am all for romantic love and such, but, I don't really have an interest in these two, so, do whatever you want with them. Although, if these two do pair up, I'm seeing awesome party, awesome fashions, more Chuck angst, and a whole lot of sibling action. 5. Should Blair move in with Nate? -Uh, no. Next. BONUS QUESTION: What do you predict will happen next in the Serena-Poppy-Gabriel saga? - Another rushed SL from JS and SS, and an uproar from fans everywhere.

Hahaha, when Gabriel said "Serena didn't steal me. She swept me away." My mom walked in and stared at me, and said "What has happened to you..." and walked out. Please, Rufus and Lily get married. And PLEASE. CHAIR. CHAAAAIR.

1. Favorite quote:
Georgina Sparks to Chuck: "Have you been saved too?" LOL² 2. Best fashion moment:
OMJC shirts all the way!! 3. Harder to believe:
Lily and friends...though the "long distance relationship" comes right after!! I liked Vanessa+Dan scenes!! 4. Should Rufus propose to Lily?
Totally! They are not acting like adults with the whole "going too fast/big step moving in together" thing...they are 20 years late on their love story, just do it already!!!!! 5. Should Blair move in with Nate?
Useless! Their schools are not that far away and they´re just not there yet! Blair is totally still torn...slow down kids!! BONUS:
Serena will take the blame for whatever mess Gabriel is making, Georgina will have to help save her, probably Gabriel will get away with it and leave the show, Poppy will get away with it too and no longer be Serena´s friend, Rufus will be caught up in the storm and lose his money causing him to have to sell the loft to pay for Yale and move in with Lily!

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? "If you needed to mark your territory so badly, Nathaniel, maybe you should just pee on her." 2. Best fashion moment of the night - Chuck's basketball attire, Serena's "dress" at the co-op party, or the "OMJC" shirts at Georgina's camp? Chuck's basketball attire - only he could combine velour and an ascot and get away with it! 3. Harder to believe: The distance between NYU and Columbia constituting a long-distance relationship, Lily and friends forking over cash in minutes in this economy, or any scene involving Vanessa? I would say Lily... but when I looked at the spreadsheet on replay, they were 'only' giving him $100-150k - which is less than many of them spend on clothes in month. So, given that's plausible, I'm giving it to Vanessa. To someone who lives a cloistered existence, it probably does seem long-distance! 4. Should Rufus propose to Lily?
Not yet. Besides it being hugely tacky so soon after Bart's death, there is literally no rush... and if I were Rufus, I'd want to decide what to do with my life before I married Lily - Rufus needs to grow (preferably a pair) before he settles down with her and becomes a kept man. (For the record, I actually like them together - but not the way he is in the last few eps.) 5. Should Blair move in with Nate?
No way! Though I'm not a Nair fan, who in their right minds at 18 and with their history do that BEFORE starting college?! Blair is a romantic, but she's not stupid. Her ambivalence when she showed up at the end was not just because of Chuck - it was, I like to think, because a long drive home cleared her head. BONUS QUESTION: What do you predict will happen next in the Serena-Poppy-Gabriel saga?
Everyone's assuming Rufus will get wiped out, but I'm not so sure... Since he handed over a paper check, if Gabriel really does have a decent bone in his body, all he has to do is not cash it - or at least, cash it and stick the money into a legitimate investment, rather than spend it. And it seems stupid to me they'd have to use this as a way to get Rufus to move in with Lily ... everyone knows it will happen eventually, so no plot device like this is even necessary. I think Serena will be ID'd as his accomplice when Gabriel gets busted, which would explain the statement by Blair ***Spoiler*** when Serena gets arrested that "You have the wrong girl!" ***End Spoiler*** I'm just really excited to see the group together again - I really like the dynamic when they're all together, instead of in packs of 2 or 3. :)

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? This is tough, but I think I have to give it to Chuck when he said "I see you're wearing your beret-who are we spying on tonight?" because it shows he knows B so well or when he says "Is that the only reason?" because he knows she loves him and wants her to admit it. 2. Best fashion moment of the night - Chuck's basketball attire, Serena's "dress" at the co-op party, or the "OMJC" shirts at Georgina's camp? The OMJC shirts definitely haha. Chuck's outfit was classic Chuck, which they need to dress him in more often! His season 1 style is disappearing and it was part of his character...where is the scarf???? 3. Harder to believe: The distance between NYU and Columbia constituting a long-distance relationship, Lily and friends forking over cash in minutes in this economy, or any scene involving Vanessa? The NYC and Columbia thing. Hilarious. 4. Should Rufus propose to Lily? This really is complicated for me because I love Rufus and Lily but I also want Dan and Serena to be together eventually! And the two can't happen at once... 5. Should Blair move in with Nate? No way. She doesn't love him and they are too young. Plus she hates the apartment. BONUS QUESTION: What do you predict will happen next in the Serena-Poppy-Gabriel saga? I think Gabriel and Poppy are still working together and Georgina is going to be herself again and trick them into giving the money back (while all the time actually being a double agent in some scheme to get to Blair)

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from the episode? Chuck: If you needed to mark your territory so badly, Nathaniel, maybe you should just pee on her. Chuck Bass, you make me laugh. 2. Best fashion moment of the night - Chuck's basketball attire, Serena's "dress" at the co-op party, or the "OMJC" shirts at Georgina's camp? Definitely Chuck's basketball outfit. No other male could ever pull that off. And the OMJC shirts were brilliant.
Serena's dress was a no no. 3. Harder to believe: The distance between NYU and Columbia constituting a long-distance relationship, Lily and friends forking over cash in minutes in this economy, or any scene involving Vanessa? Definitely the whole long distance thing. I mean, we are still in the same state! It's not that far. 4. Should Rufus propose to Lily? Always was a Derena fan. Sadly, that seems to be done for good. But still. No. I will always be supporting Dan and Serena. Despite eveything. 5. Should Blair move in with Nate? Uhm. No? Chuck and Blair all the way. BONUS QUESTION: What do you predict will happen next in the Serena-Poppy-Gabriel saga? Something extremely exciting. Anything with Georgina and Blair in the same room should spice things up.

1. Favorite Quote: I love early on when Blair is trying to get Serena to spy with her and gets all excited about codenames and how well Dorota handles surveillance equipment. This quote only got better when Chuck immediately recognizes her spying beret, clearly she's proposed the same spying scenario to him. 2. Best fashion moment of the night: Would've been Serena's green dress, but she opted for the white one which aside from letting us all know how cold the dressing room was, was kinda boring. I've given up completely on what Chuck wears; it's all overshadowed by his awful hair.... please someone muss up that boy's hair! SO I guess the OMJC shirts would win, but honestly if its a christian camp couldn't they have just kept OMG? My favorite look was Blair's red and black dress though, sooooo cute! 3. I don't find it hard to believe at all that Blair and Nate would both find opposite ends of the city to be too far away; they're spoiled and New York is pretty big, with awful traffic and they're used to a much shorter distance. Vanessa didn't bother me at all this episode, not even her clothing! I guess I've gotten used to her opening her fat mouth to spill things she has no right to spill, but I gotta believe the Humphreys know that by now and basically use her as a way of telling each other things without having to do it in person. So yeah, Vanessa was fine (points too for the STD comment, and the fact that it looked like she brought vanilla vodka for her and Dan to get wasted on but they started drinking beer first, has no one ever told them "Beer before liquor, never been sicker"?). So I gotta give this one to Lily and the "let me get you a check RIGHT NOW" guy. That was so dumb I think my brain had to block it out for the rest of the episode. 4. Should Rufus propose? Not yet. I like that he has the ring, but he doesn't have to give it to her yet, or anytime soon really. Let some tension build up (and also, Bart DIED, they should definitely wait a little while, that whole opera date was bad enough). 5. Should Blair move in with Nate? I don't really know how to feel about that whole thing. I think friend Blair and Nate would've been kinda cool living together, but jealous Nate seems like he'd get pretty insufferable in close quarters. Plus we all know it's not gonna actually happen. Bonus: The gang is gonna try to get some of the money back, using Georgina to trick Poppy and Gabriel. I can't really figure out how Serena is going to get arrested though, I mean merely introducing people to Gabriel isn't a crime is it? Anyway, I'm more interested in how Georgina is going to interact with Blair and Dan. I predict hilarious babbling from Dan and awesome bitchiness from Blair, YAY!
