We apologize for posting this recap of Southland a day late, but in this age of DVR, we doubt we're the only ones that didn't catch the episode when it aired.

Anyway, it was a solid debut. Any fan of The Shield can't help but scoff as Southland's attempt to come across as gritty - especially the lame way it beeps out curse words - but the cast is quality, the show does look very cool and enough seeds were planted to ensure we'll tune in next week.
