Below is a sneak preview of "V," ABC's new remake of the 1980's miniseries about the world's first encounter with an alien race in which the aliens call themselves The Visitors.

While the new arrivals have a seemingly friendly agenda, this may or may not be a cover for something more malevolent. Which pretty much means that it is just a cover, right?

"V" stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, a piece of casting that leaves her possibly-dead character's future on another show (Lost spoiler alert!) even more up in the air.

Here's the first preview of the show, which also stars Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Lourdes Benedicto, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort, Morena Baccarin and Scott Wolf.

A time slot and official premiere date have yet to be set for the "V" remake, but it certainly looks intriguing, at least from the first couple of scenes released by ABC.
