The posssible storyline of George's being an organ donor would make sense for George's character. Would he need to be on some sort of life support for the organs to be viable?

We all know this isn't real life. That doesn't mean we don't get attached to those characters.
I'd like to add TR Knight is a real person and Shonda has treated him like dirt for two years now.
I do have a problem with how she treated TR Knight the real person.
As for George, yes he's a character but I am still heartbroken over his death, and that doesn't make me nuts.
If you don't get emotionally attached, that's fine but don't judge me and the others who do.

Seriously, who are you to tell people to grow up and to tell them George is not a real person. I'm sure everyone knows that. The whole point of a TV show is to make you invest in characters. George was a fictional character but we grew to love him. We watch TV shows because we get invested in those characters and we care.
That's the whole point. So spare us the lectures and stop telling people how to feel or not to feel. It's immature and rude.
The scenes with George being smashed up were pretty graphic, so I have no problem believing some would have nightmares over it.
It was awful and the makeup made it look pretty real.
And for the love of God, just stop telling people if they have the right to post or not. You're not the post police here and this is an article on George.
If you're tired of George fans expressing their frustrations and pain, well just don't read their comments.
Nobody is forcing you to read articles on George.
You're the one who needs to grow up

I haven't read all these comments, so forgive me if I repeat what someone else has said.
This is a TV show, not a real life story happening to a friend of ours. George is a CHARACTER. It's kind of like when Izzie does something stupid and everyone wishes Katherine Heigl would die or something. GET OVER IT. Don't get me wrong, I liked George. He was funny, and TR Knight is just adorable, but to read comments of people saying they're having nightmares seeing him the way he was on the season finale? Give me a break. He's not a real person.
True, it might not be fair how they are going to give him a send off, and it might be gory, but do ya'll not remember Season One with the Dead Baby Bike Race, and the organ donor scene? They took out that guy's EYES, for goodness sakes. It probably won't get any worse than that.
George was a great character, but it's done. It's all done, and it's a show. If you don't like it, don't watch anymore, but don't come back to these comments and keep b
people calm down for a moment and look at this from a medical view. Its horrible that George dies, but for one abc won't allow that much gore(like some one else said, this is a family network), plus George's organs would've been damaged by the bus, so he would not quilify for donation of organs. This whole post is probably just another stupid rumor

Samantha,I agree. I was wrong. I just got upset when I was told that I was wrong or nuts for liking George. I'm fine with someone not liking him, but I'm annoyed when someone acts like I'm somehow wrong or have no taste for liking him.
There are characters I don't like but I don't criticize people for liking them.
Yes I really think the premiere will have huge ratings but I don't know if they will keep them. People will watch to say goodbye to George and watch the funeral, but how many will stay after?
I guess we won't know until we see the ratings for the next season.

This forum is getting ridiculous this is supposed ot be a place for everyone to discuss their opinions. No character is better then the other...it is what everyones opinion is. Someone can love george and someone can hate him but ultimately its a tv show and everything is for ratings. Regardless of whether or not you wanted george to live or die(i wanted him to live) the premiere is going to get high ratings i guarantee it someone said it earlier, and i agree lets keep this forum to being nice and discussing greys not bad mouthing peoples choices of favorite characters...seriously? I've been reading this forum for a LONG time and have RARELY posted but its getting ridiculous. Its a TV SHOW, and yes I have my favorite character, and yes george was one of them. I have been a LOYAL tr knight fan since before the pilot, and do i like the idea of his body ripped open no. Do ie xpect it well yeah its a medical drama...Im heartbroken that they killed off my beloved george, but am I going to

I have always been for organ donations but I have friends who said they don't want to be donors because they're scared people will be fighting over their bodies when they're barely dead. My best friend feels this way and she watches Grey religiously. Like me, George is her favorite character. I think this just might convince her even more not to give her organs if this is done like they claim here.
It might make me want not to donate either seeing it. This could very well have the opposite effect Shonda claims to want. The fans love George and they don't want to see him eviscerated and taken apart.
Of course I don,t buy for one minute Shonda wants to educate people. She wants to shock people and boost her ratings. That's all that matters to her, and she is using George to do it.
It's disgusting and yet another horrible thing done to George, the most amazing character on the show.
I refuse to watch it and help her sick plans.
Yes I wonder who Shonda's next victim will be
Amy
August 7th, 2009 4:16 PM
Hmm George is awesome. He's actually the one character who didn't turn into crap in the show and just got more likable as time went by.
George was the kind of guy everyone would kill to have in their lives. He was caring, loyal and adorable.
Izzie is so stupid for picking annoying jerk Alex over amazing George who treated her like a queen and made her happier than anyone.
Any sane girl would have picked George any day.
I have missed him the entire last season, but at least it made me realize he was the one good character left on the show.
Grey has become mediocre and George was the one character that wasn't.
He was still golden and beautiful after all this time, and he still had this big shiny brightness about him.
Shonda's an idiot for not fighting so he could stay.
Grey showed organs being pulled out of someone's body before? I don't remember, but it makes no difference. Like the poster above pointed out, those characters weren't George and we didn't care abou

Hey I am surprised anyone can like Alex but I don't say it. How can you not like George? The guy is funny, sweet, a hero for goodness sake and he is the only likable one of the gang. So hey what's wrong with you that you hate a character that is so awesome and nice.
You might not miss him but you're a small little minority.
Yes we have seen transplant scenes but not with a character we love. Duh. Thaat's pretty easy to understand.
This isn't some stranger. This is a character most of us love. A sweet man who had the biggest heart of them all, and we don't want to see his body ripped open.
Can't you get that? It's not that difficult to understand.
I'll miss him like most people here. I'll miss him so much, I won't be watching without him.
Nao
August 7th, 2009 3:44 PM
Jeez what's wrong with you people? We've seen transplant scenes before on Greys... it's a good thing that George is a donor, and it if the transplant scene goes ahead I think it will be very powerful indeed.
To be honest, I'm surprised that there are still so many George fans out there. His character was crap since he slept with Meredith.
I for one won't miss him at all...

I liked George, I'm sad he's been written out of GA, I really am. It sounds very true to George's character that he would be an organ donor. I hope it's carefully handled. George's family would have to know about this,so they must be OK with this.
I would hope that this storyine would make some viewers consider signing up to being a possible donor.

Ugh so what. They put a mannequin to play George, another actor? How insulting!
Leave George alone Shonda, you vulture.
She never used George when he's alive but now that's dead, she keeps using him as some stupid ratings ploy.
He's not a ratings ploy. He's a character we all loved.

I don't want realism. I watch TV to escape not to see a character I love having organs pulled out of him.
It's easy to say when it's not your favorite character that it's being done to.
Izzie surviving cancer with 5% chance of survival isn't that realistic either, but her fans don't care because they want her alive.
Well I wanted George alive too.
I'm tired of everyone else getting unrealistic miracles and George getting realism all the time.
I don't even think it's realism. When a character has been through everything George has been through the last five seasons, it's not realism, it's sadistic.
Shonda needs to find another character to hit on.
I don't think anyone in real life would go through as much heartache as George has.
My only consolation now that's he's gone, she'll have to find another character to torture.

August 7th, 2009 10:24 AM
And I was thinking that even though that we got to see pictures of Katherine on the set doesn't mean that she will survive, we don't know is she plays a ghost. But If shonda kills izzie, then I'll stop watching!
Swedish Girl
August 7th, 2009 10:21 AM
And I think that he could of died in another way, did she really had to trow him under a bus? Better if he had gone to the war and died over there, with pride and respect. Sure he did actuallt save a person, but still, this kinda really really sucks!

I gonna miss george SO much! My favorite caracters is Christina and Meredith but It's realy sad that George had to die! Damn you Shonda!Shame on you! Sure, a tv-show can't end up happily ever after, but this is too much. Cuz that isn't how life is. I think I that I'll miss George even more when I actually see the new episodes and see that he actually isn't there anymore.

Nobody minds about the organ donation part. This is George, selfless to the end, for whatever this ever gave him in Shonda's twisted little world where good guys get tortured and bad guys rewarded.
We are upset because the source said those were some of the goriest scenes ever and we saw the organs being taken off.
George is my favorite character. I already had to live through seeing his face all mashed up. I don't want to see his organs being taken out.
I didn't even want him to die. Shnonda should leave George the hell alone for once.
I don't want to see this, and I won't be watching if she does it.

I do not think that this "rumor" is morbid at all. It's real, and I actually think that A LOT of people are going to relate. My best friend's cousin died and was an organ donor. He died in a drunk driving accident, and he was an organ donor. It was horrible that minutes after they learned of his death they were talking about organ donation, but thats life. And he saved over 3 lives with his organs.
George is a CHARACTER, but I know that if he had to choose between being a vegetable, or being an organ donor hed choose to give his organs. And organ donation is NOT pretty, or pleasant....Who cares if they show it, it is a medical drama, and ABC won't allow anything to gory anyway because it is a FAMILY network....Lets just have faith in the person who created a show so amazing that we are all in here talking about it in the first place :)

I don't think she cares about any fans, except maybe the AI ones. She lied to the MerDer fans about their wedding, and told them to get over it when they got upset.
Shee didn,t listen to the George fans when she wouldn't give him any story even though we kept asking her all the time.
She didn't listen to us when we said we didn't want him to die and she threw him under the bus.
She probably hates the George fans just as much as she hates George and TR.
She wanted us to forget all about George and we love him more than ever. So she's getting her revenge on us by making George's death as horrible as possible.
Christie
August 7th, 2009 8:50 AM
Do you really think that Shonda cares? she doesn't care about any of the posts of George's fans, otherwise she wouldn't have thrown him under a bus!. She has some serious problems and that is a reflect on the show. I bet she's even happy to have all George's fans so angry and sad... I guess she enjoys it!
I agree. I love horror movies, but this is George. My sweet wonderful George. I don't want to see him being ripped for his organs.
George was gentle and he had that soft sweet voice. He had those beautiful doe eyes. He had that wonderful kind smile.
That's what I want to remember. I don't want my last images of him to be a bloody body on a table.
I want it to be on that elevator with his soulmate and true love Izzie.
I think that's what TR wanted too. That's why he said no to a comeback.

I like gore as much as the other guy, but not when it involves my favorite character. I hope this isn't true.
Laura
August 7th, 2009 8:08 AM
This shows the Grey producers don't care at all about George and his story. This is all a gimmick to them intended on luring the fans who love gore to watch.
That's why TR didn't want to come back for a last episode. He knew this had nothing to do with George and his story and everything to do with gimmick and shock factor.
He wanted a nobler end for George but it seems TPTB are refusing to give George any dignity even now.
What else is new? TPTB have used George as someone to make fun of and humiliate since day 1.
He wasn't a sensitive, funny, loving, brave man to them. He was the comic relief to be made fun of and tortured.
