A Vote for Didi Benami
Earlier this week, my esteemed colleagues voiced their opinions on the best American Idol auditions in Hollywood.
M.L. House put his support behind Andrew Garcia, certainly a talented musician I'm curious to hear more from.
The Barnacle countered a day later with a solid argument for Lilly Scott. I like her, too.
But after hearing more from Didi Benami last night, I can't sit back any longer and let this burgeoning star sing another note without someone in her corner. This acoustic performer was the most consistent among those already welcome into the top 24.
From strong renditions of "Hey Jude" to Terrified" to "Angel," she gets my (very) early vote as the semifinalist to beat. Check out her performance below from her first night in Hollywood:

man, as of 3/4/2010, im torn because so many of the female top 10 really brought it (crystal and siobhan are ridiculously great).. i feel like we just need to abandon all the males except garcia and big mike, who can compete with the females
the rest of the males are utterly terrible and should just be abandoned
i have not followed past idols, i am sad to realize that didi, crystla, and siobhan might not continue (and there are so many great ones amongst the females -- really, i am just ready for america to let go of lacey and michelle)
