First time on this site but I just had to leave my tuppence worth. I completely agree with the reviewer. Heroes this season has been terrible for me to watch. I watch a lot of crap on TV with a lower budget than heroes and even they would come up with a better story line for this season. There has been no character development and the whole carnival thing totally sucked. Considering I liked season 2 and 3 of heroes despite all the criticisms. They missed the plot of this show. The creators/writers had a good concept and they completely messed it up. If this isn't a series finale then I hope season 5 will be much better. Heck, I don't want it to be what season 1 was, I want a story arc and character develpment that wil make me want to tune in for the next episode (not asking for much....just keep the audience entertained). Not an episode filled with "Claire bears" daddy issues. So next week we have 42mins for:
Hiro to be healed or die
Hiro to find Charlie
Sylar and Peter to defeat

Here is a list for your little what did not happen list show how well you dough into the story.
We didn't see Tracy, a week after the show randomly included her in a three-second scene.
Maybe they did not show her cause they did not need to at all cause she was not really needed in the story line of the epidsode.
We didn't see Hiro, who viewers are supposed to be invested in because someone - what's her name? It's been so long since they've mentioned her... hmmm... ah, Charlie! - he cares about is in danger.
He served no purpose at all in this story line cause where would he needed to have been seen?
We didn't see Emma act as any believable, rational individual. As a person in any way, shape or form. She's nothing but a plot device meant to create tension because - gasp! - Angela saw her in a dream.
She acted like a rational individual she was worried what Samuel was about to do to Lauren. She is not just a plot device she is a character with a purpose.

While I admit the show does have its flaws, I completely disagree with the reviewer. As one of the people who commented requested I shall address the reviewers points and add a few of my own.
1. I would have liked to see Tracy this episode as well but I believe the writers feel that postponing her actual return will be more suspenseful. I essentially agree with the reviewer on this point.
2. It makes sense that we didn't see Hiro. He just had major brain surgery to remove a nearly inoperable brain tumor. If he was out rescuing Charlie the next day it would be unrealistic and illogical. Granted though, those arguments will probably be made when he does appear in the finale.
3. I think Emma acted rather logically. Like most specials, she has fallen under Samuel's charismatic spell. She sees him as the "Glorious Leader" most carnival members believe him to be. So of course she will turn over someone who she believes was an accomplice to the raid on the carnival whose victims

But anyways, Matt just disappeared. Where did he go? And that multiplying guy is going to try and stop Peter and Sylar who combined have tons of powers...?

Yeah I was pretty Disapointed with the whole season. I still enjoy the show because I love Sylar Good or bad! But it just seems like the writers have lost their creativity. Everything used to be so twisty and unpredictable, and in the end, everything would add up masterfully. Sadly I can already see how it's gonna end. Shame heroes writers... Shame!

@ Allen: Thank you for your comments, but a few clarifications are needed:
1. This is a television show site. It posts spoilers, photos, recap, videos and reviews. It's not a blind "fan site" that simply pours out affection for episodes without being critical.
2. I wish my reviews played some role on the writers. But if that were the case, wouldn't they try to actually fix all the show's glaring mistakes I continually point out? Moreover, if Heroes is canceled, it will be for one reason only: ratings.
It is the lowest rated drama on network television. If you wish to somehow believe the negative critiques came BEFORE viewers left, that's up to you. But it's an illogical stance to take, though it's flattering to think my views can cause over 12 million people to abandon the show from season one.
3. Have I ever insulted the acting on the show?

I am going to agree with M.L. House, on most of his review the things he mentioned are true, seriously is time to wake up and realize that this show is not going back to its original root (S1) when I was watching this episode last night I said the same thing “where is Tracy, Hiro, Ando, Edgar?
I dint mind Peter and Sylar together so much I know YEAH Sylar kill Nathan but Nathan was always an asshole to Peter.
H.R.G and Claire part was ok but not great, I think there could be less flashback that story could have been explained in a faster way without taking so much time of the show. I do like that Claire dint turned her back on her dad that was actually nice from her I give her some points for that.
Emma is she stupid or what, UGH!
How did Samuel know to send that guy to Parkman basement (Lydia told him) I thought she was dead by time Peter arrive to save Sylar. And very true M.L. House that guy is really going to stop Sylar this is a joke right?

I do have to comment on the obvious point made my several other commenters here - which is that due to your own vicious language this site is no longer a fan site but a hate site. You've gone completely overboard in your own attempts to trash the show, and given that I'm sure producrs have their eye on the blogs here ... you may in fact end up being partially responsible for it's cancelation by distorting their views in the negative. Your weekly rants are a primary source so much of the negativity laid against the show by other visitors here. The stories may be mangled at best - but writers can always be replaced. The acting standards of the cast members on the other hand have always been very high.

I have no intention of mocking you, Yaven, and apologize if that's how I come across. I am always doing nothing but mocking the show and its writing staff. I cannot comprehend that they finish up a script, turn it in and think this crap is worthy of a kindergarten play, let alone a network show.
It's an absolute insult to loyal viewers of the show, myself included, as I've watched every episode on the night it's aired since the pilot.

You're being a little too harsh on the show and especially on the fans. Ok, we've got it; you think these last episodes suck. Some of us don't agree with you, but that's all. You don't have to make mock of us. That's what irritates me the most. The show didn't make a good job on this entire season, I admit it. I feel the same as some of you; Sylar is being a crybaby, Tracy is...well...who knows what's with her?, Claire is way too erratic, HRG is boring and Hiro is weak. But I honestly think that the last 2 episodes were good ones. Ok, not like season 1, but that was a long time ago. In my opinion the show has done much worse around season 3 (the first half), with Sylar being told that he was Angela's son (I really hated that), and season 2 wasn't much better either.
I'm not saying that this episode was cool (well it would've been, if the cast included only the ones shown in this episode), but it wasn't that bad either. (Truth to be told; I might say this, because I really like whateve

PIHATRO, it's simple. If you think it is one sided every time you come back, then don't. They are doing they're job. I don't like how they dislike The Deep End or how they don't bother mentioning 10 Things I Hate About You (which, by the way returns in March! Thanks!) but you have to either take this site for what it is or don't bother in the first place. The only thing I can add is you never once mentioned why you don't agree with this one-sidedness. and are we not allowed to comment and voice our opinion? I think you're the one with all the crap

I would agree with you on some of the things you said. The biggest thing I had against this episode was the whole HRG flashback. Yes, it was kind of amusing, but you're right, it was a waste of time. Essentially it didn't tell us anything new about his character at all. It was really annoying that this was a ploy to get Claire to hate HRG. She's already known about his past, in part, and he has changed since then. She knew he bagged and tagged, but she also knew that he'd change. Haven't they had like 100 conversations about this since season 3? It's getting old.
And you're right, they are rushing towards the end without really setting things up. If this was not the episode before the last episode, then I would say it was pretty good. But where is Hiro? Suresh? Tracy? Peter's powers (ok, that one was a joke)?

My favorite thing about Heroes this season has been reading these spot on reviews; the honesty is hilarious, and so is reading the comments of worked up fans -- I like the show too, but there comes a time when you have to realize how shitty it's become. I can hardly believe next week is the season finale because so little has happened, and the promo for next week looked ridiculously hilarious (which is pretty much the only reason I'm remotely excited about it).
personally, I feel like this season could have been salvaged if Peter and Sylar had at least gotten prison gay together (how many years did they think they had been trapped in there with no ladies? Just sayin'!).
Anyway, keep up the good work -- someone needs to call the writers on their bullshit.

OK, I had to create an account just to respond to this post. First off, I completely agree with the authors comments/POV. Everything he stated was spot on and all the things he mentioned (and more), I was thinking as I was watching. I have no idea what Tracy/Pihatro are smoking?!? Did they even watch the same episode?!? Neither of you disseminated his points to prove why or how the episode was "good". I am sorry, but me thinks evolution is reversing course. I loved, repeat loved the idea of heroes, and season one did not disappoint. My favorite TV of all time(season one I refer to). Subsequent seasons have degraded with each passing year much to my dismay, and many others. 95% of the episodes this year have been absolute rubbish which in my opinion is insane since an infinite amount of possibilities could be explored with something as wide open as the heroes universe. What absolute frustration and disdain I have towards the monsters that ruined this show.

...Did you watch the episode on mute? Like, seriously? First of all, Claire and HRG did not have an argument... Like... seriously. That did not happen. In fact, we saw Claire's character progress as she remained loyal to her father after what she saw. Sylar has, in his nightmare world, changed, and is now determined to really change. Peter managed to let go of some of his anger toward Sylar and sympathize with him, while also dealing with some of his grief over his dead brother. And we learned HRG's origin story, which explains a lot about his character and his actions throughout this and other seasons.
And also: the carnival "coming" to New York City... Did you miss Samuel saying they will expose themselves and "take what's rightfully theirs"... Force people to respect them? That he wanted to see the same look of fear he'd made on his former lover's face on the face of millions?
