Ashley Tisdale to Anchor CW Pilot

Ashley Tisdale is returning to the small screen.

The actress, best known for her role as Sharpay Evans on High School Musical, has joined the cast of Hellcats, an upcoming pilot on The CW. She'll play Sierra, the captain of a college cheerleading team.

Aly Michalka is also set to star.

Tisdale's character is described by the network as"peppy and fiercely intense." She'll join forces with Aly's Marti in order to help The Hellcats win a championship.

The show has an impressive pedigree: It is executive produced by Tom Welling of Smallville and Kevin Murphy of Caprica.
