On a season seven episode of Smallville, Chloe imagined herself with a fiance. The character was played by Carlo Marks.

Now, Entertainment Weekly reports that Marks is returning to The CW hit as Steven Swift (aka Warrior Angel), a new love interest for Chloe.

Is this just coincidental casting? Or does it reveal something about the show and this storyline? Take some time to ponder those questions. Smallville has not yet announced an air date for Marks' appearance.

While many Smallville fans are looking forward to February's two-hour movie-like episode, let's not forget:

On "Pandora," Tess discovers what Lois saw in the future: Clark falls subservient to Zod; and Chloe and Oliver lead a resistance against the Kandorians.

On February 5, The CW will air a special two-hour episode of Smallville, on that focuses on the Justice Society.

Michael Shanks will play a key role on the anticipated installment, appearing as the character of Hawkman. He spoke to TV Guide Magazine this week about the gig. A few excerpts:

On Hawkman's background: When we first meet Carter Hall he’s in his museum. We’ll learn he’s a reincarnated prince from a thousand years ago. There is a reference to The Justice Society’s time in the ‘70s, but we have since disbanded.

On advice for Clark: There’s a reference given to him flying, but it’s more of a metaphor to his own personal growth. Clark and his friends are figuring out what their destinies will be, so there is a ripe opportunity for the Justice Society who had been there done that to offer some tough love teaching.

On his relationship with Chloe: She is a bit of an enigma to him. To have this pretty, smart blonde girl walking around among all these superheroes is an anomaly. Carter doesn’t know what to make of her.

Has Chloe been underused on Smallville this season?

Many fans of The CW series believe so. TV Guide Magazine took this question, and others, to executive producer Brian Peterson. Here's what he had to say:

On Chloe's season nine role: She has stepped out of the sidekick shadows and she has owned Watchtower and she is taking it upon herself while Clark is busy with Kandorians and Lois and being the Blur. She’s started to create the fledgling group that will eventually become the Justice League. So she’s basically in some ways running the show behind the scenes.

On Chloe as... Mary Magdalene?!? We really see Chloe as the Mary Magdalene to Clark’s Christ. She may not have romance now, she may not have romance in the future, but how she loves him and the way she helps him grow as a character is paramount to him becoming Superman. And that is never going to change.

On the return of Serinda Swan: We are really excited about that. She’s coming back in an episode called “Warrior,” about Warrior Angel and that is a very Chloe-centric episode. It’s a great light spot in a kind of very heavy [storyline] run for us. It’s going to happen in the winter.

In other exciting Smallville news, fans can look forward to a two-hour movie event in January.

Here's a piece of advice for Smallville fans: save a bit of champagne on New Year's Eve.

You'll wanna drink it a few weeks later to celebrate a special, two-hour episode of the show.

Indeed, The CW has chosen to combine its highly-anticipated, two-part installment of Smallville - the one featuring Pam Grier and the Justice Society - into a movie-like event. It will air on February 5.

The episode will center around DC Comics legends such as Stargirl, Hawkman, and Dr. Fate.

Ready to meet the Wonder Twins, Smallville viewers?

On Friday's new episode, David Gallagher and Allison Scagliotti premiere as Zan and Jayna, respectively.

They come to Metropolis to assist The Blur in his battle against crime. However, most of their rescue attempts fail, which causes Clark to get into trouble with the District Attorney.

Late last week, it was revealed that Serinda Swan would return to Smallville as the character Zatanna.

Now, the series has announced even more exciting casting news:

Pam Grier is joining coming aboard the show for multiple episodes, reports Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly.

The movie star - who last appeared on the small screen on Showtime's The L Word - will portray DC Comics villainess Agent Amanda Waller. The character is an evil doctor that has been featured in a number of comic book stories and films.

Look for the Golden Globe nominated actress to debut in the second hour of the upcoming Justice Society-theme two-parter, “Legends." It airs in January.

Think Grier is a good choice for this iconic role?

Sexy, alliterative casting news for Smallville fans:

The CW hit will welcome back the character of Zatanna later this season, as Serinda Swan is booked for an early 2010 episode.

The actress first portrayed Zatanna last season, as she granted Chloe's birthday wish by dropping her into Lois' body. From there, Zatanna sought out her late father's diary, fighting with Green Arrow along the way.

“There was always the hint that she might return one day, so I was keeping my fingers crossed," Swan said. "I love the cast and I really like the character."

No word yet on why Zatanna returns, "but knowing the character and what she's capable of, it's going to be something pretty interesting," the actress said.

More exciting news for Smallville fans: the Wonder Twins appear on next week's new episode!

On this week's new episode of Smallvile...

• ... Jor-El (ulian Sands) arrives at the Kent farm, searching for his son. He meets Chloe instead. 
• ... Zod enlists the help of Tess.

It's a simple, yet pressing question: Will Clark Kent finally become Superman this season on Smallvile?

A fan of The CW series posed this question to TV Guide Magazine; who, in turn, took it to producer Brian Peterson.

He said the black blur suit Clark has been donning this season was only meant to be a temporary bridge to the long-overdue Superman unveiling; which, yes, is currently being planned.

“Given the Clark Kent everyone knows from our show, it would come out of nowhere to have him automatically start wearing the [Superman] suit,” Peterson said, adding season nine might conclude with Clark building a new costume with more familiar colors.

As for Lois and Clark getting together, as the former dreamed at the start of this season? Look above, Smallville fans.

“What we teased in the premiere, we have all intentions of paying off for the fans this season," Peterson said.
