Bones Casting and Season Finale Scoop: Billy Gibbons to Return, Emotional Steps to Be Taken

at . Comments

In his latest spoiler-riffic column, Michael Ausiello reveals a couple Bones tidbits regarding the rest of the season.

Which recurring character will return? How will the season finale play out? Answers and teases are below:

  • Billy Gibbons (pictured, of ZZ Top) will reprise his role as Angela's father this spring. Says Michaela Conlin: "[He] comes back on the show in a really killer way... I should clarify that. It’s not in a Bones killer way, but killer as in cool ass. He has a really great episode."
  • As for the May finale, producer Stephen Nathan describes the episode as “the next logical emotional step after what happened in the 100th.”

What happened, of course, was that Brennan crushed the hopes and dreams of Booth, not to mention viewers around the country.

So, what might this "step" entail? We'll have to tune in and find out.

I think it's GREAT that Angela (what is her real "Mystery name"?? Eunice? Bertha? Something awful since she named herself from a dream), and Hodgins FINALLY tied the knot. :Does Happy Snoopy Dance* I do *not* think that B&B ever should get married. I DO think that they should sex each other up in a big way, but Not tie the Knot!! It would be the death of the show. However I think that Cam and her new love will be a bigger interest, and I can NOT wait to see what "tests" that Papa Gibbons puts Hodgins through!! I'm a Texas Girl so I have some ideas...but I don't want to spoil any one's enjoyment of the show. However, that is what *I* am looking forward to, Angie's Dad putting Jack Stanley Hodgins III through these "hoops" that Micheala mentioned on her mini-interview. W00T!! =^..^=

I think she needs a little pushing, but I don't think the relationship would cause the show to fizzle. They are so different that seeing them together could be amusing. Brennan's learning curve in an emotional relationship would be fun to watch.

I pretty much only watch it on hulu now, and that is only if the episode is about them moving towards each other. What is this season 5 right? You can only suspend that carrot in front of the donkey for so long before he either just gets tired of it, or sees another carrot lying on the side of the road (aka different show/less frustration)

logical? are we reading too much into Nathan's choice of words? i thought what brennan did in ep.100 WAS the "logical" step!! and any deviation from that would be illogical. now i'm confused >

I know, Booth will start dating someone who he likes, and Brennan will realize she made a mistake., but then, he moved on and she will cry. Bla, bla, bla Why are they trying to prolong this so long. Will it take 10 years like the Xfiles? Why not trying something new for a change.

Unfortunately I don't think we will or should have the happily ever after until the shows finale. No matter how much we want them together, it usually is the downfall of a show for the two main characters to actually get together. I love this show, but I do not want a "Lois and Clark" kind of fizzle.

I am very disappointed on the last 2 shows making Bones look like a Big nerd. I thought she was trying to be a normal person for Booth. If the storyline does not change I will stop watching, I want them together,

Yah, I agree with the above poster. My irrational inner-fangirl wants Booth to put the screws in until Brennan realizes what she's missing, buuuut that's not rational... not at all. As Deschanel has said, Bones just isn't in a place where she can trust Booth not to abandon her like everyone else important to her has in the past. So, there are two logical conclusions. One, they stop working together. Logically, this makes the most sense... But then we wouldn't have a show, no? So, two, Brennan, quite logically, arrives at the conclusion that trust is *good,* and we get to see them try their hand at the whole relationship thing. Ugh, either way, I have equal parts breathless anticipation and terror.

Next logical emotional step? If we are talking Booth and his "moving on" then that means NOT working together anymore...yeah, that'll last. Of course I'm all for a little less logic and have Booth convince Bones to roll the dice for the whole shebang and just have them run off and get hitched.

Bones Quotes

Sometimes the best things in life happen against the odds.

Booth: I worked really, really hard on my vows, but you know, now that we're here, look, um, hey. Do you remember the last time that we were here? Standing right around in this spot? It was right in the beginning before we really knew each other. I was trying to get away from you because you were irritating me and, uh, you chased me down, and you caught up to me and I said to you 'listen, I just have to get all my ducks in a row' and you said to me--
Brennan: I can be a duck.
Booth: Yeah. You know we had been chasing each other for a long time. Chasing each other through wars and serial killers and ghosts and snakes. And now chasing you has been the smartest thing that I have ever done in my life. And being chased by you has been my greatest joy. But now, we, uh, we don't have to chase each other anymore because we caught each other.
