Bones Preview: "The Dwarf in the Dirt"

Dr. Wyatt returns to Bones this week.

That would typically be the most exciting aspect of an episode, but that's only when Booth isn't getting into the wrestling ring with a midget.

Indeed, our favorite duo investigates the killing of a dwarf/former wrestling star on the episode "The Dwarf in the Dirt." Check out a few photos from it below:

Confirmed: Bones to Flash Way Back

Bones is off the air, set to return on November 5, barring a seventh game of the World Series.

But the show's producer at least has cool news to keep fans excited for later this season: on its 100th episode, as previously hinted at it, the series will flash back to the first-ever meeting between Booth and Brennan.

“We’ll be there for the first time those two personalities clashed,” executive producer Stephen Nathan told Entertainment Weekly. “Events will conspire to make them come out of the case hating each other and vowing that they will never work together again.”

Amish Country

What else will be included during this episode?

“We’ll also see the introduction of Angela and the genesis of her friendship with Brennan,” Nathan said. “And we’ll try and work in a Smurf reference, of course. They certainly have been absent from season 5 so far.”

Sounds awesome. Let's hope the Yankees sweep the Phillies and Bones returns as soon as possible!

Back to the 1930s for Bones

Bones won't air a new episode until November 5.

But fans of the Fox hit now have something interesting to contemplate during that time, as producer Stephen Nathan told TV Guide Magazine that the show might head back to the 1930s for an upcoming installment.

“A lot of shows have done those 40’s film noir episodes,” Nathan said. “But what we’re thinking of doing is going back a few more years to a 1930’s era homage to Depression-Era comedies like (1936's) My Man Godfrey or (1934's) The Thin Man, where they’re living the high life in the midst of the Depression - drinking and having a good time while solving murders.”

The episode would be filmed entirely in black and white, but that isn't the strangest part of the idea: would Temperance Brennan drink and have a good time?

That we'd love to see!

David Boreanaz Confirms: Zooey Deschanel to Guest Star on Bones

Numerous Bones spoilers have hinted at it, but star David Boreanaz has finally confirmed the anticipated casting news:

Zooey Deschanel will join her sister for an episode of the hit Fox show.

Speaking to E! News over the weekend, Boreanaz said:

"I do know that Emily's sister is going to be on the next episode, which is exciting. I think she's going to play Emily's cousin. It's a whole relationship thing that's going on now with us and it continues to grow and grow and get crazy."

Bones is taking two weeks off, but will return with a new episode on November 5. Look for Zooey to appear in an episode around Christmas.

** Update: Zooey will play Margaret Whitesell, a distant relative of Brennan. For the episode, Brennan's father, Max Keenan invites Margaret to spend Christmas with him and his daughter.

Bones Spoiler: A "Kennedy-Like" Storyline to Come

Unafraid to tackle controversial topics, Bones will soon crossover into Presidential assassination territory.

TV Guide Magazine reports the series hired JFK conspiracy expert Bob Harris to write an episode about the exhumation of a president’s corpse.

According to executive producer Stephen Nathan, the plot is based on “the government sweeping in and asking for a favor, but then the bones disappear.”

Museum Murder

Might Bones incur the wrath of the Kennedy family?

“We’re seeing how much we can get away with,” Nathan said. “For now, we’re not using his actual name, so it’s Kennedy-like.”

The episode will air in January. Tonight, meanwhile, Booth and Brennan investigate strange happenings at a museum.

Come back to TV Fanatic soon after the installment airs in order to check out the latest Bones quotes and music from it.

This week's dead body on Bones?

It's found on an electric fense and is a mummified Egyptian that's been given to the Jeffersonian for a forthcoming exhibit.

Soon, the museum's curator is also found dead, leading Booth and Brennan to suspect something strange is afoot.

Bones Quotes of the Week: On Sex and the Amish

On this week's new episode of Bones, the series dealt with a pair of contrasting topics:

Sex and the Amish.

Cam's daughter's Michelle was considering having the former for the first time; while Brennan and Booth investigated a murder in Amish country.

Dealing with the Amish

The resulting Bones quotes reminded viewers of why they adore this show: it combines drama with mystery and humor as well as any series on TV. Below is a sampling of how various character responded to the pressing subjects above:

Booth: You make it sound like it was a class that you took. You know, the first time you should be in love. You know, totally goo-goo for the other person.
Brennan: Were you when you were sixteen?
Booth: Well part of me was. | permalink
Michelle: I'm scared. Is that weird? I mean, it's just sex, right? It's all over the TV and everywhere.
Cam: Whoa, there's no such thing as 'just sex', Michelle. Every time you give a bit of yourself to the person you're with. So it's okay to wait as long as you want.
Michelle: I don't want to lose Perry.
Cam: If Perry doesn't understand how you feel, he doesn't deserve you. | permalink

Ralph Waite Cast as Hank Booth on Bones

Bones has found a grandfather for Booth.

Former The Waltons star will portray Hank Booth, a former army EMT, that appears in the November 19 episode "The Foot in the Foreclosure."

Said producer Stephan Nathan of the installment and the role: “This is a really good murder. All that’s left is ash and one foot, and Hank can’t help but tag along.”

Ralph Waite

Tune in November 19 to hear the insightful Bones quotes Booth's grandfather has to offer.

The upcoming episode will be an vital one in the Bones lore. Viewers will learn the reasons behind Booth’s abusive father abandoning his son at age 11.

The series is currently casting for that important role, as well, but Mr. Booth won't appear for awhile.

“You can’t introduce too many relatives at once," said Nathan.

Brennan: Being overweight wasn't always stigmatized. During the Middle Ages in Italy, the wealthy and influential members of society were called popolo grosso, meaning literally, fat people.
Hank: Is she always like this?
Booth: Well, Pops, she always has the facts, Pops. Always.
