So, here's the whole thing; it surprised me too, this series. I thought that overall it wasn't bad, even though I've caught most episodes by your reviews and the CW website instead of the network broadcast itself.
What bugs me?
That people aren't necessarily mentioning that Vampire Diaries WAY predates Twilight. Something CANNOT be a Twilight ripoff when it was around for TEN YEARS before Twilight, nor can it be when the books it is based on are actually WAY BETTER.
That and Stefan and Elena. For some reason, their relationship and casting just doesn't work for me in the series.

what the what 90210 was amazing all season long gossip girl had a week season 90210 was way better and a B+ glee u people are crazy

I don't know how you can really objectively compare Glee or House to VD - they're all different genre. They all 3 get A's in their own category, in my opinion. It all depends on what kind of TV you like better.
@Nyl: I'm not saying Vampire Diaries was, or is, the best show on TV. These report cards are based on individual seasons.
For what it is, this series aired an essentially perfect opening season. I wouldn't change anything about it. While there are better overall shows out there, I can (and will, in future report cards!) cite misguided storylines, continuity problems, etc.

I'm quite surprise that of all the shows above you'd give "Vampire Diaries" an A+ while other higher profile shows such House, Glee only got an B. I haven't finished watching the show yet so I'll hold my opinion but it's hard to imagine any any show from CW deserved such high mark (maybe Smallville couple of seasons ago).
I totally agree! VD was the best show this year and I can't wait for next season. Tough I'm not so sure if I'll like Nina playing two roles. Somehow this is always weird and unreal. So I really hope that Damon will kill Katherine at some point and end up with Elena. That's my only wish for Season Number 2. And don't let Caroline die -> she's a cute girl!
