Entourage Review: "Porn Scenes from an Italian Restaurant"
Eric Hochberger at .This week was the penultimate episode of Entourage's silly seventh season and the episode continues the hilarious Sasha Grey-inspired title tradition of last week with "Porn Scenes from an Italian Restaurant."
Unfortunately, that was pretty much the only thing good to say about Grey, who continues to make any scene she's in painful. Luckily, Mark Cuban's awkwardness was there to give her competition for the worst actor ever.
If the dude can't even play himself, please tell me why Entourage couldn't have just used another billionaire? Sir Richard Branson was hilarious with his brief cameo this week. Twins? What are the chances!
On to the positive(s) of the episode. I'm going to have to give it to Drama. Poor Johnny showed a real human side as he got completely duped by E's assistant. No, not because he thought with his penis. Because Johnny genuinely seemed to pour his heart out about his failed career and foreclosure.
Now there's Ari. He continues to be the only source of laughs in the dramedy, but his plot has just felt rehashed and fizzled way too quickly this season. Now as it continues to drag on each week, we're expected to believe Amanda Daniels was on his side? Wait, didn't Lizzie quit because Amanda, NOT her assistant, pushed the law suit and threatened to release the tapes. This felt less like a twist and more just plain inconsistent.
We know we're compelled to mention Turtle's pathetic shill of a plot, but we'll just leave it with the aforementioned Cuban cameo, which wins for worst this week. Yes, I know we previously gave him best, but the show's decision to try and make this cameo into some kind of recurring role has dropped his hilarious awkwardness into terrible territory.
Best cameo clearly goes to Queen Latifah. Not at all because of her acting or the fact the scene was just a forced way move the Amanda plot along, but because I learned her real name was Dana. Funny, Queen seems to just fit her better.
So what are we really left with for the season finale? The big cliffhanger was the gang finding a ridiculously large bag of cocaine in Vince's house. Either the dude is selling or his nose is going to fall off next episode. Call us crazy, but we're more looking forward to the True Blood season finale.
