Gossip Girl Round Table: "Double Identity"

at . Comments

Welcome back to another edition of TV Fanatic's Gossip Girl Round Table, where our esteemed panel reflects on the events of last night's episode, "Double Identity."

Below, Gossip Guy and Mister Meester and the returning DANdy take on a variety of topics, from Juliet's agenda to Dan's romantic plans and Chair's future ...

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from last night?

Gossip Guy: I gotta give it up for Chuck for his usual, "I'm Chuck Bass" line.  This episode it felt particularly poignant as our man rose from the dead.

Mister Meester: Blair: "I could care less about his Bassets and probably he's been filtering them through some foreign government so I won't know." Bassets. Wow, that was a good one. Just when you think the Chuck puns have been exhausted ...

DANdy: "Chuck got shot?" Not because the words were especially witty or moving, but because Leighton Meester's line reading was just pitch-perfect. In that moment, Blair went from pretending not to care about Chuck to showing her complete vulnerability. C'est manifique, Leighton!

2. What's been your favorite part of the season so far?

Gossip Guy: I can pinpoint an exact moment: When Serena walked in to find both of men with new women and got to meet baby Milo all in front of her parents in a coincidence only Gossip Girl put pull off. It's just nice to see S taken down a notch for once. Besides, that way I can sneak in there to scoop her up in her moment of weakness. I'd like to think I offer her the best of Dan and Nate with some nice shoulders to cry on.

Mister Meester: The train station meeting of Chuck and Blair, without question. Maybe not the rekindled romance Chair fans hoped for, but Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester absolutely killed that scene. The way they conveyed such mixed emotions was so impressive.

DANdy: There are multiple parts, and they all belong to Katie Cassidy.

3. Is Juliet trying to sabotage Nate, Serena, or both?

Gossip Guy: Based on the picture of Serena being the only thing left on her wall, I'm going with S. Nate was just the obvious choice over Dan for manipulation. I mean seriously, who would you pick to go up against in a battle of wits? Exactly. Man bangs every time.

Mister Meester: It's becoming clearer after last night that Serena is the target and Nate is the (handsome!) pawn. The real questions are whether Juliet legitimately falls for the pawn, and who she's working for. S has her fair share of enemies at this point. Thoughts?

DANdy: Hell to the S. Prepare for some major girl-on-girl action, viewers, just not the kind many men might be hoping for.

Not Her Best Fashion

S may be the target of a certain Sharp shooter.

4. How will Blair react to Chuck's return to NYC?

Gossip Guy: Pff, it's going to take more than Chuck to destroy Blair Waldorf. I expect our Queen B to rise to her former glory again.

Mister Meester: She even admitted it wouldn't beher world without Chuck in it. It's only a matter of time before his reentry causes serious friction - and Eva pays the price. Jenny too, if that girl dares show her face at Fashion's Night Out, which I expect she will!

DANdy: To Chuck's return? Just fine. To Eva's return along with him? Worse than Gossip Guy would if locked in a room with Vanessa.

5. Who should Dan date?

Gossip Guy: Well we all know there's no way I could pick V and since S is his step-sister, I'm going to pick a third, very controversial choice: Blair. We all know from Gossip Girl spoilers that Dair is inevitable and there was something kind of hot about them together when they schemed last season. Plus, hey, I hear she's single now.

Mister Meester: Serena. It's confession time. I am an unabashed, card-carrying member of Team Derena. I printed out the card myself at Kinko's, but still.

DANdy: No one. The man has a son to raise. Let him focus on more important things, as he's in danger of becoming Brooklyn's version of Jon Gosselin.

What do you think? Sound off in the comments!

Omg i just loved it when chuck said: we don't need tickets, i'm chuck bass!! HE'S BACK!!!

After this great episode I love Leighton Meester even more! :D specially when she handed one of her heels to prince Louis and walked out ... so cute!! After all the drama Blair had to go through with Chuck and his mama/uncle jack/dead Bart issues, it is fun to see her being fresh, sparkly and fun again!

I really hope they will kill of Vanessa - she is one of the "main" cast, but hasn't had her own story line yet, always carried like a burden by others. she is useless to the show. Did anybody miss her when she was in Haiti?? Not really, right?!
Juliet and Penelope? No, penelope is way to silly for that kind of operation. Juliet and Georgie? Hmm, might be, but unlikely too. I think the writers will come up with something nobody would ever expect.
But honestly I don't care, I just want to see Chuck and Blair reunited and I hope for as much Chair-screen time as possible! They are the only characters making the show worth watching... and Nate... because he so nice to look at;-)

I can't believe no one mentioned the best quote of the night!!! Chuck: "Your world would be better without me in it" Blair: "That's true, but it wouldn't be my world without you in it" ----- I seriously teared!! that whole scene was so well written and had AMAZING acting!!! When Blair said I don't love you anymore you could tell she didn't mean it but that she wanted to!!! It was insane!!!

I'm starting to think that Juliet is in cahoots with poppy lifton...only because the way they dropped that storyline..with Georgina just saying it's taken care of...i don't know...it's sorta just begging to be reintroduced with more twists and turns...and she, more than Carter, would want to bring Serena down. Carter just wants to be a better person (so he said in beginning of S3)so Serena will fall in love with him.

so i read that gg would most likely be cancelled...i wonder what josh and company think of their brilliant decision to destroy chair now...or how about giving vanessa so much screen time and having jenny be the one to take down chair....
now chair fans have to be divided on if they even want to see them back together because lets admit that wimpy i can't get over chuck blair is boring and annoying. and that chuck never seems to try to get her back is also boring and annoying..
bringing jenny back would be a mistake and having the back and forth whining of vanessa is an even bigger one. Can someone save the show please? Bring back the Blair that is strong and have someone fight for her? I mean half the guys on the show fight for Serena and she is a complete moron and a slut....

Chuck/Ed Westwick and Blair/Leighton Meester are the only actors on this show. The rest act like children. I include the adults. The next episode is a major regression back to Season 1. Let's just end this show with Chuck/Blair moving to Paris. If the want to cut costs, then cut out some of the cast starting with Vanessa/Jessica Szohr. If Blake Lively/Serena wants off the show, then let her. She is all boobs and legs. She is nice to look at, but has zero substance. Sorry to be mean, but I am telling the truth here.

I think Penelope and Juliet are working together to take down Serena!!

1. B, I went to the morgue today. What is that a sex club
2. When Serena returns to New York. It seemed so season 1
3. Serena def
4. I'm not a massive chair fan, I'd rather them not together
5. Serena. But they should have made the Rufus and Lilys son story line, that kinda ruined them

Gossip Girl Season 4 Episode 2 Quotes

Chuck: When you dragged me in from that alley, you didn't just save my life, you gave me the hope of a new one.
Eva: Well the you I've been living with never did anything to be ashamed of. I hope you'll bring some of him with you back to your world.
Chuck: I fully intend to. If you'll come with me.
Eva: To New York? You got me a ticket?
Chuck: We don't need tickets. I'm Chuck Bass.

Blair: Just because you're poorly dressed doesn't mean you're not Chuck Bass.
Chuck: Why would I want to be him?
