The Vampire Diaries Casts Klaus!
He's the oldest, most dangerous vampire on the planet. And now he has a face.
Following weeks of hype and speculation, The Vampire Diaries has cast a relative unknown actor in the role of Klaus, the Original blood sucker set on sacrificing Elena and breaking the curse of the moonstone.
Say hello to Joseph Morgan.

We know what you're thinking: Who?!?
The 30-year old Brit has a thin resume in the States, but producer Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly last month the show likely preferred an actor "that no one’s really familiar with," so he can be exploited, "in all the good ways," of course.
The Vampire Diaries has succeeded on that front: this role will mark Morgan's first network TV appearance. He has enjoyed parts on the big screen in Alexander and Master and Commander.
With just hours to go until tonight's 2011 premiere, sound off now: Good choice?

this guy seems ok to play the role of Klaus but sometimes he looks like not very baddish to be a vampire original. Looks can be decieving to play this baddish of all vampire. What people still don't know if the sun and moon curse will ever be broken, if Elena will be turned, and how will she end up as a vampire being with the salvatore brothers. This season is turning out to become making big decisions and mysterious unanswered questions for sure. What will become of Mystic Falls? There is only one way to find out and that's to keep watching on. =O =]

Hm. The pretty-boy choice. Interesting. But I think can see it...
Bring the heat Mr. Morgan! Elijah compounds your pressure by leaps and bounds...just know how openly critical and honest we die-hards are with our characters and feedback~

Wow- I was do floored. I suppose he was turned first and young. Just like IS he doesn't look his 30+ yrs so that goes in keeping with the ageless nature of his character, I hope we can love to hate him as with Elijah and def Damon but Klaus has a bit gone wrong upstairs which could be fun to play.

i agree with all the people who say he's fine. i think the scariest characters are the ones with innocent and nice face and with pure evil behind it. on eclipse - i know it's cheesy and cheap and i hate it too, but i love dakota fanning - the only somewhat scary and genuine character was hers, because she seemed so innocent and nice but she was the cruelest. on true bloood when i first saw godric, eric's maker, laughed so hard i couldn't stop. i mean i was like 'WTF? Despite being at least 2,000 years old and is supposed to be one of the wisest creature on earth, he still has the body of a teenager?' Then i realised the actor was perfect for the role because the most exciting characters always have an inconsistent feature with their nature.
i say it's an advantage that he's relativly unknown and if he's a good actor(which i hope) he will be a great angel-faced devil-hearted Klaus:)

i just hope he's not a poor actor, you know, all cheesy like the Volturi family in Twilight, that would really put a damper on things...
