Haven't had such mixed emotions for a long time, a great episode of Greys. The OR scene was amazing, so moving...

And Derek's face after catching Bailey is hilarious....miss his mischievous side!

    Bring on the next episode

This episode was fantastic. Though I'm a devoted Grey's fan, over the last few seasons I have -- like many others -- begun to tire of the focus on childish drama and throwaway medicine. For me, "Golden Hour" felt like a return to Grey's of old, showing us proper medicine and our favourite characters doing their proper day-to-day jobs, without sacrificing those heartfelt or funny moments that were scattered around to spruce things up. Not to mention... oh my god, that OR scene. Ace job, people!

WOW... I mean... wow!! Absolutely the best episode so far in season 7! So good to see the scene in the OR, very intense and heartbroken. Meredith has done a great job in this episode!!

Guilty conscience needs no accuser. I stated some people. If doesnt apply to you, your reply isnt necessary. If it isnt bothering you then why feel it necessary to comment. *Ooops opens window throws your theory out of it.*
There are some comments that suggest a problem with their sexual orientation on quite a few boards. Know what you talking about before you ever address me.
So scream shout, faint, fart, or vomit. My statement still stands. Take it with a grain of salt or risk high blood pressure and take it all in.

if u think people r hating CA or CAM or Callie per say coz they are a lesbian couple then u g=r highly highly HIGHLY mistaken Most people are detesting this SL coz it just doesn't makes for quality TV drama and believe it or not it has completely ruined two previously very great characters viz Callie and Mark to a point of no return
anyways think whatever you want to think I personally am not letting anything to even come touch my excitement so screaming singing shouting cheering raving what every one else is saying This epi was THE BEST epi all season and THIS is the Grey's we love and will always LOVE

One of my favorite episodes this season. It was awesome to see Mer take control of the ER and rock being a doctor. My favorite scene was MerDer in the elevator although I wish it involved a quickie. Derek catching Bailey was priceless. Love Cris and Mer scenes. Felt bad for Mer when the chief yelled at her about Alzheimer's. Also desperately wanting a McBaby for DerMer!

THANK YOU BAZUKA74 and UNIQUELY YOURS!!! I think some ppl are confusing hating the storyline with hating the characters. Some need to pull their skirt down because their homophobia is really showing. Callie is a part of the core cast. Has been for a while. Arizona is a very nice addition to that cast. I love seeing my lesbians kiss, love, work, and function just like the straight characters do on this show. Its really ashame the amount of disgust and hate one can carry in their heart. Oh well CALZONA 4 EVER!!
I do agree that Ellen rocked it out. But too much Mer for me. I like her just not a fan of seeing her for 50 minutes. The lack of the other characters was fairly obvious and very much missed.

I had stopped watching Greys due to story lines that were just too dramatic.......LAst night, I got busy and it came on and I was only listening since I did not want to stop to turn to another channel. I MUST say that I saw the Old Greys that I loved from the start. I am glad to see it coming back. I have a feeling all (or at least more of the drama can go to the other doctor's show that takes place in the jungle...good..I always think about ABCs LOST when I see the lush terrain which is their setting! GOOD JOB Greys writers...good job!

INCREDIBLE ep. It was just like the good old days!! :) :)
I would've totally gone for a quickie in the elevator though :P

    I don't like Bailey/Eli.
Seeing Bailey reduced to a simpering idiot was cute initially, but now it's gotten old and kinda annoying.
    I miss the old Bailey.
She had a lot of character, and was incredibly empowering.

There are just too many damn characters on the show now.

Best episode of the season for me also. A standing "O" for Ellen Pompeo's performance. It did feel alot like "early greys", and I loved it. Loved the merder elevator scene. I guess we all have our minds in the gutter cuz I was thinking quickie too. I kind of agree with what i read abour bailey and lucy being a bit forced, but i want to buy it so I'm going to blindly believe it will turn out fantastic. Again, BEST episode of the season.

I'm also glad that finally.. Mer had a character-focused episode. I enjoyed those in season six when Derek had his episode and Arizona had hers.

I wonder if Stacy wrote those as well, because, seriously? brava!

    @Smriti

I totally agree with your allusions to the first episode of GA. I noticed the elements of back when they were interns: now they're at the same resident year that Bailey when they were first introduced.

I certainly thought it was awesome that it took four years for Bailey to get caught by Derek. "Ya mind moving this wagon? You're blocking me in." HA. Stacy did a really good job.. hell, an excellent job to weave all these elments in when they were interns.

Something I noticed that you hadn't pointed out was how Mer really picks up on things. Remember when the baby turned blue? She hunted down Burke for a consult - it wasn't exactly the same, but that dynamic of Mer going after Altman to make sure that something was really wrong with the patient. Another aspect of that was when Burke and Cristina was at dinner and they rushed the guy at the restaurant to SGH for the same condition, but they caught it in time out of pure happenstance.

Was it just me or did anyone else

the episode was brilliant because it went back to basics and focused on the original characters, hence taking us back to the core of Grey's Anatomy. Don't forget that the show was initially based around Meredith and four other interns and their seven year course at the hospital and last night was a reminder of these original characters that we fell in love with seven years ago. I've seen people moan about the lack of Callie and Arizona, but at the end of the day, the show was never initially about them. Now, characters who originally were only meant as supporting characters (i.e. mark, arizona, callie) have taken up most of the screentime with their pathetic storylines. Its interesting that one of the best episodes in many years featured no callie or arizona.
FOCUS ON MEREDITH AND THE OTHER RESIDENTS MAKING THEIR WAY THROUGH RESIDENCY AND THEIR RESPECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH EACHOTHER AND THEIR HUSBANDS/PARTNERS. FORGET ABOUT CALLIE AND ARIZONA

  14. Grey's

    What a spectacular episode.
FINALLY after ages it felt like I have tuned into GREY'S ANATOMY Last night is the reason why Meredith Grey is called THE GREY in Grey's Anatomy. it was sheer perfection and Ellen Pompeo was FLAWLESS
Epis like this show whats been missing all season, bring on our leading lady preferably along with her McDreamy more and more and just see where this show leads up to.
It was seriously more than perfect and such a respite from the pathetic-ness by whiner and her two lap dogs :( Even fifteen seconds of her ins unbearable.

  15. bazuka74

    @jb4uiwill.

You are not alone, I'm with you on that one I love Calls & Az to no end, it's only their story lines that drive mad. However, I am hopeful it'll work out for them.I missed them in this episode a lot even though I was whining last week that I don't wanna see them any more, well apparently I do, more than ever.

I've enjoyed this episode, Mer was very convincing as a doctor in total control, even though I am not her fan.I loved the scene where she had to tell that family that their father & dad just died, it was so emotional & her & Teddy in the elevator & in the OR too.Dr Webber was such an ass to her but that's just 'coz he's scared that Mer is right.Btw if Adele would've gone from GA I wouldn't have missed her.

Bailey's behavior is totally out of character, it's a bit forced & I'm struggling to believe that Eli is attracted to her, I don't know why.I wish we could have our old kick ass Bailey back.

I like Alex & Lucy together & eve

@jb4uiwill I totally agree with you about Callie and Arizona (Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw). They have become fan favorites for a reason - and it is not all wrapped up in this one season. People need to remember that. The tone of their characters have changed a little the latter part of this season and I believe there is a reason for that which has not yet been fully revealed. I trust in Shonda and the writers (and Sara and Jessica, too) that they will be truthful and caring about characters we love so much. GREAT EPISODE last night and Ellen Pompeo did a fantastic job carrying that ONE episode. It is not a indication for MER/DER fans to believe she could and should do it all of the time (although they think so). It is still an ensemble cast with A LOT of talent onboard.

  17. jb4uiwill

Congrats to Mer fans who got the epi they loved. I liked being able to see what a dr goes through in one hour. However, I wouldve loved to have seen Christina instead. I love her intensity. I think Christina or Alex would make a great chief resident.
Callie is still my fave. Bitchiness and all. Once this whole baby nonsense is done, she will be the Torres I admire. And let me say Callie is considered a veteren of this cast as well. Shes been here a long time and that shouldnt be taken from her. Sara Ramirez does a damn good job in spite of the material she has been given and so does JCap.
CALZONA 4 EVER even if Im the only one who still thinks so.

Great episode! Much better than any other of this season, at least for me.

  19. Mrs McDreamy

LOL at the merder elevator scene that made me cringe but crack up! Finally getting back to true greys! Wth is wrong with Callie? Her and Bailey seemed to have swapped personalitys alright Callie is pregnant but why the full on bitch act?
The scene where Meredith looks over the babies reminds me of the first season where izzie George get told by Meredith they can move in.but honestly we need to see more of Patrick dempsey :)

  20. kc

i really think teddy should give henry a try. :)
and avery and lexie? .. :/ no! NO!

  21. Smriti

okie i was trying to think what all linked this epi to S1 apart form the fact that it was all abt the people who were there back then who made the show what it is, here is my list of things

Mer Cris in nursery OBVIOUSLY i could almost see George andizi too there standing behind Mer laughing playing with each other cracking jokes like good old days and you know am pretty PRETTY sure the back ground score too that played on this scene was from s1 it was just Aaah NO WORDS

Then when Mer's patient coded and she ran I dunno why I was reminded of Katie Bryce Mer's first ever patient she got to her late thinking she might have paged her randomly like she had been doing all day and when she got to her she was having a stroke and coding Dunno why I was reminded of that Even the Mer Teddy scene in the elevator had a s1 feel the music the heart stopping nerve wrecking tension it was SO s1ish

Then Derek's haaaaaair OMG am I the only one thinking that was EXACTLY like the good old McDreamy

  22. inka

Mer rocked the ER and she should be the next chief resident. She clearly has both - the know-how as well as personality to do the job. Loved the moment in the elevator and yes, I did think they were going in for a quickie :)

Karev/Fields chart signing and flirting felt a bit forced after Lucy's strong dislike of Alex on last week's epi. Friends - yes, lovers - nope. She should be hooked up with Avery.

I looooove Bailey and Eli together. They rock as a couple and I think he is REALLY good for Miranda. Shonda, pretty please don't break them up. Have this go somewhere instead.

Teddy should give it a go with Henry. They have great chemistry and Henry seems to be a keeper. He's sensitive, fun and intelligent, not to mention he's hot!

Lexie/Avery just doesn't do it for me. Hook him up with Lucy not Lexie. She belongs with Mark.

Callie's all hormonal but still quite fun, I missed the baby drama with Arizona and Mark. They were cute last week.

    Chief was definitely in denia

  23. bo

    Ellen shines in this episode.

  24. seriouslygreylovers

    @greysjunky
I'm agree with you.I want to see more Lucy,my mind is going to see her and Karev together ♥
    aww i like them!

  25. Meredith McDreamy

Really loved this episode. It was great to see Meredith focusing on being a doctor again and running the ER like a champ. She caught Lexie's mistake, paid attention to the father's heart trouble, and stayed on top of the peds patient. Absolutely loved seeing Meredith juggling it all for a change.

Mer/Der....I loved their one minute date. I seriously thought they were going to have sex in the elevator and laughed when Derek said he'll be in and out in a minute. What a dirty mind I have. Derek was soo cute too. I just love them as a couple. I want to see more of them just like this -- no fighting or major drama necessary. Ellen and Patrick have great chemistry and make these characters come alive. It's awesome.

Adele/Chief...I hope Adele doesn't have Alzheimers but if she does, I hope this makes the Chief and Meredith bond more than before. I would love to see them in a father-daughter type relationship because whether or not they realize it, they have treated each oth
