in the letter-reading funeral screen...i cried. a lot. but despite you not wanting the bad stuff to happen, it makes for a great episode!

The episode was really breathtaking, I actually cried during the funeral scene. Nina did a good job there, I felt her pain and sorrow. The bad part of is, Damon is dying. It feels crap seeing him like that. He can't just die, he's one of the best characters there. So, He's still needed in the show, Jenna's gone now that would be to much for Elena.

I really liked the episode. BUT what I didn't like was some obvious bad work of the story writers. First kill John, then bring him back, then forget him several episodes just to bring him back again so he can "save Elena's soul" with a last-minute-spell?!?! Seriously? What a lame way of NOT making Elena a vampire (although I have to admit I wouldn't want her to become one!).

And what a bad ending for Jenna. I mean - why did she try to drink Greta's blood and not just break her neck???? Jenna could have ended it all! But no, the writers decided to have Jenna more in a bloodthirsty mood than a saving-the-day mood :-(

I really liked The Vampire Diaries, but the last episodes with all the predictable events and/or the not very creative story writing kinda ruined it for me... I can't understand why anyone can possibly call that episode "the greatest episode of any show ever"!

does anybody think that caroline and tyler are going to make a baby hybrid who will be as strong as klaus ? that was the first thing in my mind when I saw them in eachother arms !!!

I love this show, keep the excellent work up writers. Omg couldn"t take my eyes off of this week show, love Damon, elena, bonnie, tyler, caroline, and of course Stefan, also klaus and his brother. Keep up the good work. Hell its running neck to neck with True Blood

Oh I love the idea of bringing Damon back as a human by using the witch's elixer. That way him and Elena can be together, since she didn't want to turn into a vampire in the first place. The episode was, by far, one of my favs. One question though...what was with the awkward stare between Elena and Damon at the grave site at the end of the episode? Chemistry, maybe? I hope so! Can't wait until next week!

Feel bad for Zach that his character is pretty much pushed to the far sidelines of the story again lol. I did not think Jenna would die! I thought that whole emily spell thing would work on Jenna. And i really wanted Elena to become a vampire and i doubt she will have powers from johns soul. But once again great episode Season 2 just blew me away! And they are still pushing the boundaries and could top it with Season 3 the originals!

OMG! This episode was one of the best episodes of all the CW shows put together. It was action packed the whole hour. I don't know how they will top that with next weeks season finale, but I looking forward to seeing them do just that. I hope they find a way to save Damon. TVD will not be the same w/out him. Plus I would also like the idea of him being saved but some how being turned into a human. That would be interesting.

There is no Vampire Diaries for me without Damon. Coming back as a human simply won't do. I need my deliciously naughty vamp!!!

I am actually happy that Elijah didn't kill Klaus. They seemed shocked that Elijah went back on his word and did't kill Klaus but he has always said he is a noble man and he saw a chance to rescue his family he thought was lost forever, that to me is noble.

Caroline and Tyler is sooo going to happen now that Matt is out of the way :)

I have a feeling that Damon will turn human by drinking the elixar, but I really really hope that he stays a vampire.

I have a feeling that because Elena had Vampire blood in her system when she died even though John Sacrificed himself for her that she may have some special powers, Half Vampire?

the scene when Tyler and Caroline where like cuddling in the sofa, that was one of the best for me=)))))) thank god Matt broke up with her giving way to FORWOOD

I hope that the "magical witch potion with no expiration date" works!!!TVD without Damon is ...Dr.House without Gregory House!!!! I think Bonnie rescure Damon, and i hope that!!!

Alaric is alive, that´s great :)

I was hoping I could see Klaus in his werewolf mode but sadly that did not happen. I am also glad that Elijah did not kill Klaus because Bonnie and Stefan should know that family is important to everyone. I never thought of John as the bad guy because if you were a parent and found out your daughter is dating a vampire, what would you do. Overall this was a good episode and now I have to wait for season 3 in the fall to see Elijah and Klaus again.

Oh, and Katherine is still around! It just seems like a lot of loose ends are around this season.

    This episode was insane.

I was a bit disappointed by the Bonnie/Jeremy scenes at first but they shaped up awesomely.
And Jeremy cleans up gooood in a suit!

I knew Elijah wouldn't do it, and it became even clearer when Stefan started questioning his honour. That just drew large neon arrows at the ultimate betrayal. But I'm wondering whether they can really sustain a season three of intense, dark, original-searching episodes. I miss the lighter moments, when the show wasn't all about sitting around the Salvatore house plotting Klaus' death.

I'm way curious about Greta. Why the undying devotion? There's probably a story there.

Now the cards on the table are Damon's bite, two originals going MIA, and Caroline's mum being in the loop. I put my money on her being the next to go. They've already compelled her once, it won't happen again. I'm certain they'll save Damon (Vampire Diaries without him? Pfft.) But how? I love the idea that he'll come back human!

    I can't wait for t

OMG! I didn't even realised that the sacrifice has worked so Klaus is now a real hybrid.
And lol yeah Alaric isn't going to get his house back anytime soon.
