Combat Hospital Season Finale Review: "Do No Harm"

at . Comments

Just as I really got into Combat Hospital, it's over. "Do No Harm" was the season finale and it left us with plenty of compelling storylines to consider.

As I watched this episode, I sincerely hoped this wouldn't be the last time I saw Luke Mably's Simon, as it's questionable whether the series will be picked up for a second season. I wasn't sure how much potential this character had when I viewed the pilot, but several weeks later, I only want more.

Combat Hospital Finale Scene

Simon was simply adorable as he tried to do the decent thing and not take advantage of a vulnerable Rebecca. Of course, it didn't take much convincing from her to push him over the edge. The snippet of a love scene that we got only whetted my appetite for the real thing.

And I couldn't believe Simon picked up a book and pretended to be reading when he opened the door for Graham. It was cute, ridiculous and very funny.

Rebecca and Simon were such complicated characters that any relationship between them couldn't help but be a bumpy and incredibly interesting ride.

On the other hand, I ended up liking Bobby Trang a little less as the weeks went by. Not that I disliked him, but his attitude towards Susie kind of ticked me off.

And poor Susie. At least the girl went out fighting but how horrifying to watch someone so full of life be transformed into a corpse in mere seconds. Just another reminder that nothing is fair, especially in war.

Again, I was left wondering about the relationship between Marks and Grace. I'm not saying they were ever lovers but they have a closeness that belies a long term friendship and I'd love to know the history between the two.

I wondered how long it would take for Marks to figure out who his mystery patient was. When the CIA operative admitted that their patient was kidnapped while they were working with "overzealous contractors," I couldn't help but think how scary those two words were.

I was glad to see Rebecca's turmoil over treating the man she'd just shot. She told Marks she didn't think she was cut out to be a doctor and a soldier. I'd say the events of the day proved otherwise.

Elsewhere, Araf's story finally wrapped up. As much as I would have liked to have seen him adopted and to start a new life with people who loved him, I knew that the politics might make that impossible. I never realized that Will's wife would also be an obstacle but he was asking for a huge commitment from her and obviously it wasn't something she was ready for.

That Simon played hero for Araf and his family wasn't surprising. Again, Simon was the character who I wanted to smack one moment and kiss the next. What more could you ask for?

As much as I thought the series started on shaky ground, it grew stronger with each episode and I find myself a fan. Whatever its future, I can say I've truly enjoyed Combat Hosptal.

I caught it on Hulu and really enjoyed it as well. They shot 14 episodes, and we only saw 12, though. Which explains some of the missing plotlines. Wonder what made them pull the other two?
I do hope they pick it up though....

I wasn't sure about this show, I'd watch it on demand instead of live. But as it went on I've loved it more and more. I hope it comes back, but I know ABC won't be a part of it.

I knew from the getgo that Combat Hospital was going to be a hit !!! Please please please do not take it off the air. I love medical shows and get so disappointed that most Medical shows lately get cancelled after the First Season. The fact it is Canadian is an added bonus. I also like the fact that it isn't general medicine in a general Hospital (Which was why I also like Off the Map). Where is Off the Map now ?? :( I emphasize Please don't cancel Combat Hospital.

I was first disappointed by this show, but it has grown into one of my favorites. The last show has left me wanting more. It would be so sad to have the show cancelled after only one season.

Combat Hospital has had a compelling season which really hooked me in. I can not wait for Season 2. It has been a bonus to help us understand what our troops have been going through. KEEP COMBAT HOSPITAL GOING!

I certainly love this series. We all too ofter see on TV shows the American Army. ITs refreshing to see Canadian soldiers . I love the interactions amongst the different characters as they try to find some type of normal life in a war zone; it brings out the humanity we have to offer, both the heroic and the not so. All Canadian are in some way affected by the Afgan war, and the more I watch this series the more interesting the story line becomes as teh characters become more developed and dynamic- Bobby's anger problem, Simon's drinking , and the Colonel's cool way of keeping everyone and everything real and in perspective of the big picture despite personal preferences . faiths, beliefs, or relationships. THis is a GREAT CANADIAN show . I can 't wait for season TWO .

I too have been drawn into this series. Didn't care for Simon at the start but couldn't imagine the show without him now. Hoping that this series gets renewed as it's become one of my favourites.

I rarely watch television anymore...but this is one show I've never missed and was captivated from the first episode. In fact I watch the previous episodes of the week multiple times on the internet. This is one of the best shows I've seen in a LONG time. PLEASE bring it back!

I enjoyed the series Combat Hospital from beginning to what I hope is not the end..

I echo everyone else's comments in saying that I loved this show and I hope it does not get cancelled. I also echo Ms. Orlando's feelings toward Simon. At first I thought he hadn't any redeeming qualities. I'm happy to say he has shown himself to be more than the arrogant jerk he first appeared to be. From the "What were they thinking!" file: Why the heck would someone replace a line from the Canadian national anthem with one from the American national anthem? What makes it especially f'ed up is that, as Christian pointed out, it was during a scene, "honouring a fallen CANADIAN soldier".

Combat Hospital Season 1 Episode 12 Quotes

Simon: So you don't want me to be a decent human being?
Rebecca: Of course I do. In about an hour and a half.

I am literally throwing myself at you and you choose this moment to be a decent human being.
