I thought it was good....LOVING the growing up tony....it's TIME for him to marture and be seen as the GOOD agent that we know he is and WHY gibbs hired him....loved the bit with him and gibbs....however, i DON'T think he HAS to shore with tim and ziva.....i could easily see them making jokes about it.
ROMANCES:i don't mind on-screen romances...as long as their the RIGHT people and they have respect and REAL chemistry between the actors/characters....TIVA is OUT, because of how she treated him before.

Great episode and lots of laughs. Jimmy's rule was very funny and Gibbs' glare was priceless. I love Ziva too, and never get why she is disliked. Llyod's comment was correct, the foster girl - sister's pathology was ripped form a Law and Order episode and the parents were sweet, although I disliked the father until the last scene. Poor Tony and his issues, I thought the huge hunk of a "Stinky John" was hysterical and Tony lying to himself for years was pretty real; people do reinvent themselves to cover up angst and pain. The new edge of somberness in Tony is nice, but I hope the writers keep it light, Tony as the class clown is an important part of the team's success. And does anyone else ever marvel at how impossibly young David McCallum looks for a man of 79??

I never liked Tony the clown, and I would like to see him grow up. He has skills that are overshadowed by his dopey comments. Even Ziva has actually told him to grow up. (We know that McGee wishes he would.)
How can anyone not love Abby? I know older women who want to adopt her.
I like Ziva a lot. Since I watch a lot of reruns, I often compare her with Kate. Very interesting character development.

If Ziva's part in the storylines is getting reduced, then I'll be perfectly happy. She got far too much focus in Season 6 and early Season 7, and the show suffered as a result. I'm still waiting for her to apologize for pointing a gun at Tony's chest. Like, actually apologize. Not that she should ever have been allowed back on the team in the first place.
RE: Ziva's (still) lousy English. She's a (former) intelligence officer for Mossad. English is a major trade language. She should be fluent enough to pass for native (either a US, Canada, or UK native) already, not dropping malapropisms here and there which instantly shout "I'm A Foreigner!" National or regional slang and idioms would be part of the language training.
On the other hand, mature Tony is awesome. However, this better not mean that EJ's going to die when she shows up again, just to cause Tony maximum angst. Wouldn't be too happy with that.

@Steve Marsi You missed a rule. Jimmy's Rule number one: Pipettes can never be too clean. I absolutely cracked up, and had to add it to my list of Gibbs's (and everyone's) rules. A lot of NCIS characters seem to have a rule number one.
I was touched to see that Tony is growing up. I had a grandmother who never really did. Even at around forty, it is not too late, and it bodes well for the future of his character. A grown man can establish better, longer-lasting relationships, including with a woman. Tony is not a happy man, mostly, but I am beginning to see some hope for him. And the perpetual juvenile was starting to wear a bit thin, anyway.
I do like the way they treat the characters on this show like real people. Lives are fluid, and changes occur. We mature, we get wrinkles, we get gray hair. We lose friends; we get new friends. We move to a new country and take out citizenship there. This program is not stuck in a box, never to change. And it is the progressi

YOWSAH! THIS is the kind of episode you get when the writers quit trying to fix what ain't broke! Each character reminded me why I love this show--even in re-runs. Ziva is one of the classiest characters on TV and I love how the writers mangle her vernacular English. Now, keep going in the same direction--the fans will let you know when it's time to change course.

Thanks for the review; pretty much agree with everything . Loved the ep, and think Steve Binder is a strong writer. Loved the "teaminess", and how these guys continue to support each other. So happy they didn't just pretend Tony was fine after the events of the premiere, and I agree that I'm loving this new introspective DiNozzo. And what is it about a Gibbs/DiNozzo scene? These two just blow me away. Also loved the sweet way McGee and Ziva each gave Tony a gift, and although they would die before admitting it,they obviously missed him. Yes, the team is back together, and I'm loving the season so far!

NCISFaan - ha ha ha - your opinion that Ziva is a 'waist' - I do not agree. I think she is a 'thigh' - darn nice thighs too.
I believe the word you want is 'WASTE' and again NO she is not - she is amazingly beautiful and adds more to the show than you obviously see -
The Team Gibbs is back together again in their hats and booties at the crime scene. I like that.
Loved how Ziva pulled poor McGee away from the scene when the kids were being mean to him. That was a very cute touch.

Doesn't it seem in both this week's episode and last week's season premiere that Ziva has had very little to say or do? She didn't seem like much of a part of either story. Wonder if it's a trend or just these couple of episodes??

Good episode.
But the best was the end with Tony and Gibbs. It seems like they are back on track. It was like a father and so moment. But it does make you think and wonder what other things happened in Tony life/childhood that he turned around or made up. Kinda sad too that he still puts on a mask and doesn't let the other know of his real past.Hope there will be more moment like this with Tony and Gibbs being the one there for him. But at least he was mature enough to want to apologize in the first place.

Great Episode, Tony was Great, as was the tony-mcgee and tony-gibbs interaction. Abby adorable in her homecoming dress..
Ziva as usual was annoying and a waste of screen space, she added nothing to the story as usual, she's a waste, and her acting keeps getting worse, not to mention her rapid aging.

love the team back together, tony was adorable and sweet.
the story of a 27 year old repeating her high school years over and over again? as tragic as it was, and as twisted as it was, i saw the same identical thing in Law and Order: SVU, a 28 year old was in her fourth or fifth circle of being a seventeen year old, she had a relationship with a classmate and she was being charged with statutory rape because she was really 28 and he was 17.
Ziva's sheep comment-hilarious!
Abby was hot in her homecoming dress and i can't believe what Tony went through in school, made me want to punch that John guy!! poor Tony, i love him soooo much.
