Hawaii Five-0 Review: Together Again

Ka Hakaka Maika’i: The Good Fight.

Now that all the members of Five-0 are back together, we got to see them get their fighting on on "Ka Hakaka Maika'i," as they were faced with a murder during a home invasion.

It was back to business as usual for the team, from Steve going toe-to-toe with MMA champion Chuck Liddell to watching the now five-person unit take down those robbers - and business was good!

White vs. Wo Fat

Watching our heroes go at it with these antagonists was one of the best actions scenes we've been treated to this season. It was nearly perfect, but one had get away, of course. Enter the requisite chase scene!

This happens so often, my wife has started keeping keeping track. Tonight the count was two: first the last home invader, then Boriero.

Elsewhere, we got a visit from Wo Fat, or rather Joe White got a visit. You have to admit, White held his own pretty well, given Wo Fat’s history. On the other hand, I’m sad that Mokoto is dead, he seemed like a gentle old man and really didn't deserve to die the way he did.

Did you agree with Joe that he and Steve asking questions go Mokoto killed? I don't. I’m with Steve. The responsibility lies with the Wo Fat, as he made the choice.

I have a question for the anti-Lori TV Fanatics, too: What do you think of how they started reshaping her character? Did you notice she was never “dressed up” (ditching the sexy business woman look) and was actually showing a strong tom-boy side when she talked to Steve about sparing with her ex-boyfriend when she learned MMA and Judo?

I’m pretty lonely in the “I ♥ Lori” club, but it looks like Alex Kurtzman and his team were working hard in this episode to bring a few more converts over. I’ve said it before, I have no complaints with her joining the team; she has added a strong element with her profiling background and she prevents Kono from being the only girl. That’s “win/win” in my book.

That said, it was disappointing that the show stuck with its current trend of advertising a guest star and then only featuring one scene with him/her. This week we got to meet Agent Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) from NCIS: Los Angeles. She clearly had a history with Joe, which I had hoped meant we would see her for more than three minutes. Alas, it was not to be.

In the end, with Wo Fat back on the war path and Steve having learned a bit more about what his father was talking to him about, I suspect Joe and Steve will need to be a bit more careful.

Whatever comes at Five-0, however, it will be nice to see them all face it... together.

I stopped watching this show all because of Lori. What was once a great show, filled with entertainment is now reduced to a pathetic slime all because of Lori. Sorry writers, try as you guys to shove this pathetic stone to our throats isn't going to work. She is painful to watch that I have more fun counting the tiles on my kitchen floor than watch her thing she calls acting. I hope this show gets cancelled if the powers that be insist on having this mediocre woman!!!

How hard the writers are trying to make Lori a likeable character is not endearing to me; it's actually doing the opposite. I feel offended by how much they're shoving her in our faces: "Like me! Like me! I do muay thai and judo, therefore you must love me!"
I'd rather be introduced to a character and grow to love them, like I did for all the other characters of 5-0. I liked how they introduced Kensi; I would prefer to see her character grow instead of Lori's.

Sorry still not in the Lori fanclub....I prefer to see more of Kensi Byle. She was actually really cool.

I liked the last episode, although I too wished Kensi had more lines and a little more was found out about the conversation of Steve's father and Wo Fat. I hope its not dragged out too long.
I have to say that I'm also not a big Lori fan. I DO NOT like a love interest between any of the team members. Steve needs someone outside of the ninja, cop, military mode. I could learn to like Lori if she weren't being shoved down our faces. I know they are trying to establish the character, but too much, too soon. Danny, Chin, and Kono are being shoved aside. I too miss the partnership of Steve and Danno. Where's Grace? I loved the scene with Danno looking out for the murder victim's son.
I'm not ready to kill off Lori, but a more subtle entrance would have been a better choice. I'm not going anywhere yet, I still love this show, and like the other new characters, as long as we see more of the original four, which is what attracted the audience it has for season 2.

I Agree With all That's Been Said By The Other People.
Lori Should Definitely Go. She Is Ruining The Show! Stealing Lines and Scenes Which Should Have Been Kono's And Danny! I really Just Can't Seem To understand How People can Like her.
Lenkov Always Retweets tweets Of fans Who Say that Lori Is amazing Bla Bla Bla, disregarding the fact that many fans don't like her.
Its as if he forcing us to like her but sorry, this is not going to happen.
Since Episode 2 , the producers are throwing Lori and steve at us. they don't even have the chemistry -.-'' heck, even Kono makes a better pair with steve than Lori .. So -.-

I am in the "Dislike Lori" fan club. Her character does not fit in well in H50. It appears that the writers are trying to force the interaction between her and Steve, and it is NOT working!!! I liked Cat and the interaction she had with Steve. Even if she is on another show, she can film bits to be in a few episodes and carry the relationship in the show. It was a much better chemistry between the two. Lori is not believable as an expert in anything. Sorry...writers need to give it up and plan for her exit.

Lori definitely needs to go!! It is agony to sit through her lines! She adds nothing to the show. No personality and I too cringe when she talks to victim's families. She has no chemistry with Steve if that is what they are trying to create. Save this show! Get rid of Lori!! Love the Fab 4!Writers--please concentrate on them!

Someone needs to get rid of Lori. She needs to go. I agree with everyone who says she's ruining the team dynamic. She's getting in the way of McDanno time. We definitely need a lot more Kono too. They're doing pretty much the same job. So let's just keep Kono and get rid of Lori. We could even use some more Chin. Lori's not even close to being as bad ass as any of them.

Monday's episode was a let down for me. Missing that team dynamic, and what was that with Kensi? Did they not have enough money to pay her for more than one scene? What a joke. I agree about Lori. I personally think Lauren German is a good actress but not a good fit in this show. She needs another show. She was a miscast IMO. I also blame the lame writer for her lines. I believe Alex said it best, about an actor can only do so much with a bad script!!!!!!!!!

Agree with all of you about Lori. The rest of the additional characters are fitting in nicely. Joe is only in 9 episodes I believe anyway. Honestly, I don't think CBS or Lenkov read or care about what the viewers think. I for one stopped watching the show live. The only way to get their attention is for the viewer numbers to decline. Last week's was high, I think only because of the huge hype about the NCIS girl being on it. Hype because she was on it for 5 frickin minutes. The rest of the time we had to suffer with Lori's scenes. Ratings will decide what they do with the show.
