Revenge Review: Being Frank

at . Comments

"Intrigue" was a game-changer with so many twists and turns that, in the end, I almost didn't realize Emily Thorne hadn't taken down a new victim.

First... Lydia's alive?!?  When she fell off that balcony, things took a turn Emily didn't see coming. The revelation that she's in a coma, similarly, was a surprise I didn't foresee. So the cab broke her fall? Ouch! But it's such a great complication for down the road. What will happen when Lydia wakes up? How much will remember?

Declan in the Dark

Is Tyler completely off his rocker? We all knew Tyler wasn't quite right, but after this episode I believe we can safely call that an understatement. Emily pegged what we all suspected, that Tyler didn't have the money he claimed, yet somehow the slippery little weasel continued to get away with his farce.

Ummm, did Tyler make a move on Daniel when he put him to bed or did I misread that? For a moment it certainly appeared that he wanted to be more than just Daniel's best friend and when Daniel rejected him... that's when things got scary. Just how twisted is Tyler? I assume we haven't seen the last of his craziness, although I'm still trying to figure out his end game. Overall? I simply can't wait to see Emily take him down.

Jack made his move. I was a little surprised Jack put it all out there the way he did, especially with Emily dating Daniel. But I suppose he felt if he didn't make his move now it might be too late. Unfortunately, Emily's game includes bedding Daniel and she's determined to ignore her heart and follow her plan.

His honest plea to her was heartbreaking to watch. Who hasn't put themselves out there only to get crushed? It's a moment you wish you could forget but never do and it brought Emily to tears.

Nolan bailed. Frank scared the crap out of Nolan, which sent the mogul running to Emily to tell her he's out. I was so disappointed. Nolan was so ballsy when Frank was threatening him. Who else could make double rainbow jokes while being roughed up by a possible murderer?

Of course, the big problem here was that now Frank knows there's a connection back to Emily and he won't stop digging until he finds it.

On other fronts: how much of an idiot was Conrad? Frank has been his fixer for years. He knows all of the Grayson's secrets. Together they framed a man for a terrorist plot and watched him die in prison but I guess knowing the man would murder your mistress because he lusts after your wife was a little too much for Conrad. (What a great sentence, huh? I love Revenge!)

Still, it's a huge risk to turn on him. Conrad should have been smart enough to keep his enemies close because firing Frank will definitely come back to bite him.

Over at the Stowaway, Declan did a lot of stupid things and one smart one. Being honest with Charlotte probably got him closer to her than any fancy dinner ever could.

Back to Emily, I had one question: Why keep the picture that links her to her past? I thought she should have burned it. Of course, if anyone finds that box, her game is over, with or without the photo. I hope she's got that thing locked up.

So will Frank figure out her plot for revenge and use it to get back into Victoria's good graces? Did Emily's lack of a successful victim this week disappoint? Or was there enough intrigue to keep you wanting more?

i found this episode to be riveting and i liked how it's less of a procedural now...tyler is greakin creepy i could not stop laughing wen he was on screen esp wen he bashed his head on the pole lik wtf? who does that? lmao

Last night was a great show but I would have loved to see more Victoria/Emily scenes. They are fantastic together like to 2 prize fighters looking for a weakness.
Jack is growing on me but he is still behind Daniel in my book. Last night putting himself out there of a good first step and the swing was sweet but but not only does being with Daniel help her plans but I think she is beginning to care about him in a way she never expected.
I loved the double date Emily dressed him down pointing out inaccuracies and out and out lies. Ashley came off looking real stupid to me her best friend pointed out that this guy is not trustworthy and she gets mad a Emily.
Next week they have to redeem Nolan after he not only got caught on camera, and then led Frank directly to Emily and then left her to deal with his mess after he forced his way into her plans.

She probably knew that Lydia would be too stupid and cocky to really open and read through everything. It was planted so that Frank would see it and tell Victoria and Grayson that she was behind the whole thing. That being said, this episode was a miss for me in terms of story and direction. There were some good moments like making Frank seem a bit desperate in his pleas to Victoria. It was a nice change from someone who was always calm and collected.
I liked how they make Grayson out to be this scared little rat who tries to be brave but I could feel that he was having a code brown when he was firing Frank.
Other than those two delicious moments, everything else was just blah. I don't care much for Declotte (Declan/ Charlotte) story. I know why the producers felt it was necessary to have that sub plot so we can see how they end up on the beach on that night but I could have done without it. (that's just me tho). Tyler is one messed up freak who I am sure is the one who kills Daniel. Not Jack. I don't think Jack would be capable of killing him. I really hope my theory pans out.
I like the overall idea that even though Emily had this plan to take down the people that ruined her life, not everything will go according to that plan and I liked that not every week was about taking down a person and that they stepped out of the box today. I hope that next week sees the take down of Frank before Victoria gets any plans.

she has to send the tape to the police or she'll never be safe from Frank! I was sad to see Nolan go, but he'll be back! Oh, the scene with Jack broke my heart..but I like Daniel as well..I hate Tyler, she has to expose him ASAP!

. If Lydia had read those, wouldn't she have known it was Emily all along? the way I see it, Emily did plan to have Lydia take the fall as a scapegoat. She just did NOT expect Frank to try to murder her. Notice how she did not really care about that, beyond the irritation that "bollocks, my plans got messy by this"? As far as Emily Thorne is concerned, Lydia got what she deserved. The problems is not that she got that, but that it was not according to her plans - in her plans Lydia most likely suffered worse fate than death, maybe jail, etc, but not death, as according to Emily "death is too good for them".

What I don't get is why Emily sent that box of stuff to Lydia, with the camera/dolphin and those articles she printed about the senator. If Lydia had read those, wouldn't she have known it was Emily all along?
