NCIS Episode Preview: Welcome Back, Tony Sr.!

by at . Comments

NCIS delivered a powerful two-part episode over the last two weeks, depicting the return of Lt. Flores, a race against time to uncover a terror plot, Tony's soul searching and a look back to Gibbs' USMC days.

Read our NCIS review from last night for full coverage of "Engaged."

Looking ahead to next week, Robert Wagner makes his third appearance as Tony's father. True to form, he appears to be caught up in NCIS business, although far more seriously than his previous visits.

After Anthony DiNozzo, Sr. is found in a car with a dead body in the trunk and no memory of the previous night, the NCIS team must figure out what the heck happened, and if he is capable of murder.

Meanwhile, Tony is sidelined for this case and must go against orders to try and prove his father’s innocence. Given their already complicated relationship, this should make for an interesting episode.

Think he's actually involved in a murder? He can't be, right?

It would be really dramatic if Senior actually did commit a murder and Tony had to deal, but I doubt very much that this will be the story. I am guardedly excited about this. I enjoyed many parts of Flesh and Blood, but pretty much abhorred Broken Arrow. Mostly because I presumed it would be Tony centric and it wasn't, and I thought that it would perhaps resolve in a meaningful way some of the issues brought up in F&B. Gibbs and Ziva had more scenes and action with Senior, and I really disliked the way the team cruelly disregarded and mocked Tony's apprehension about using his father in an operation. I hope that Sins of the Father allows Tony to do something right, and is not just a story of how how distracted Tony becomes when his father comes to town , and we see Gibbs and/or Ziva having to correct his behavior and solve the case.
