Vampires are not heroes. They are pariahs. They prey on people and hunt them down for their blood. I think we are blurring the lines and worshipping villains.

I have to go with Peter Bishop, from Fringe. I agree with Carissa. Who can say they saved two universes!!! Love it

John Reese on Person of Interest for helping complete strangers.
Steve McGarrett and Danny Williams on Hawaii 5-0. Danny especially for defying all to rescue his friend who was abducted to a different country.
Raylin Givens on Justified. Went up against the Kentucky Mafia to rescue a girl.

My vote goes for John Reese played to perfection by Jim Caviezel on Person of Interest. He came back from the very bottom to be the Hero on the White Horse to perfect strangers. He will only get better & do more........

Naturally, Rick Castle is a Big Damn Hero, because he's still Mal Reynolds, too.
In the as yet unnamed heroes division: The Doctor, Amy & Rory, River Song. And Captain Jack and Gwen, Reese and the baby.

I know it's a new show.... but Jim Caviezel's character John Reese on "Person of Interest" is my vote for most heroic..... He'll take on anybody, from drug dealers to crooked cops, and all for perfect strangers! That's pretty heroic in my book.

Even thought stefan went down a dark path, we have to remember why he did it all. He gave up his happiness, his life, his true love, all to save his brother. Twice, because klaus could have been killed the last episode,but once again his brothers life was more important to him. Both times he knew that by leaving he was basically putting elena into his brothers arms, but it was worth the sacrifice. And we also have to remember how many other times Stefan has sacrificed his life. He offered his life in the place of Jenna. He's saved so many peoples lives a numerous amount of times. Caroline, bonnie, elena, jeremy. Etc. Stefan is always saving people. And although his empathy,honor and compassion may make him a bit dull and broody sometimes, and although he may or may not be the best match for Elena. No one can deny that he is the definition of a hero.

I'm really surprised none of you picked Caroline Forbes! Did we forget that she went from victim to victor embracing her vampire self and learning to control her urges. The list of heroic things Caroline did that goes unnoticed.
1) She saved Damon and Stefan's life in kill or be killed and exposed herself to her mom. Caroline says Hi Mom
2) She also saved Elena from Mason doing harm to her.
Caroline says I can take you.
Mason says want to bet.
Caroline says Yes I do! and kicks his butt! lol
3) Helped get Stefan out of the well.
4) Saved a compelled Matt from trying to kill Tyler. If she didn't knock out Matt. Tyler would of be forced to defend himself and may have killed Matt trying too.
5) Caroline also compelled her own mother to protect the Salvatores.
6) She also risked her life to help Tyler through his transition into a werewolf. Which also kept in from escaping and doing any harm.
7) She jumped Dr martin in the bar so Elena could escape and then had
Damon should be on the list! Think about everything his done for the past year for Elena,Stefan and all the others in Mystic Falls.He's given up EVERYTHING for them
