Gossip Girl Fashion Recap: Pretty, Pretty Princess?

at . Comments

Gossip Girl's 100th episode, the aptly-titled "G.G.", left many screaming at their television on Monday night for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, that crazy b!tch Georgina is supposedly Gossip Girl in the flesh?

That thought is still brewing in our brains. Secondly, way to go Eleanor! Thirdly, Blair running out of the church ... and not to Chuck. Also, that creepy Louis! Not to mention, Humphrey as B’s get-a-way driver.

Let’s just say, we rewound, we pressed play. We rewound and watched again and again ... and again.

Through the hysterics and Blair having a Carrie moment (suffocating in her dress!) - everything was really stunning, with the exception of the new princess’ hair, that is - that was a royal don’t. Sorry, B.

Blair and Her Two Dads

Customized for the Queen B herself (no doubt due to Leighton’s relationship with Vera), this classic sheath consisted of not one, not two, not even three, but four layers of hand-laid lace.

A pure stunner, Blair looked elegant, though with that horrific tiara and those limp locks (come back Season 1-3 hair!) the allure fell a bit short for us.

Actual Dress: Vera Wang "Gisele" Gown

S as Marilyn

S would be a Marilyn. If ANYONE, she would be a Marilyn.

She played the part well, though her lip-syncing wasn’t all that stellar. A bright hued mermaid gown and a boatful of “diamonds,” and a plethora of gorgeous men - we’ll take this dream any day.

Actual Dress: Redux Charles Chang-Lima One-Shoulder Mermaid Gown

A little too far-fetched with the headpiece, Georgina made long-awaited appearance in an encrusted trench coat with her husband and Milo in tow. The wrath she scorns, we don’t want to walk in her path.

Actual Trench: Burberry Gem Embellished Trench Coat

Steal Trench: Dover Trench Coat

Actual Pump: YSL Tribtoo Pump

Steal Pump: Chinese Laundry Nightlight Glitter

Louis and Bridesmaids

We will be the first ones to admit when B looks gorgeous, which she does most of the time. But Serena kinda stole the show in this wedding. She looked phenomenal, that’s all there is too it.

A peony-hued, one shouldered, cascading stunner paired perfectly with her natural makeup and her adorable 'do (did anyone catch the hair bow?!). Dan doesn’t know what he’s missing. We’re about to start whispering Nate’s name.

Actual Dress: Vera Wang Spring 2011 Farrah Gown

Steal Dress: Dessy Chiffon Strapless Gown

Actual Earrings: Dana Rebecca Stud Earrings

Steal Earrings: Kenneth Jay Lane Round Floating Earrings

As for the bridesmaids ... horrendous. The dresses are beyond brilliant in theory, but poorly executed. And though they scream royal minions, these girls can’t carry it. A little too-much rosette for us, however the color was so subtle and feminine, it softened the blow a bit.

Actual Dresses: Vera Wang for David’s Bridal

Steal Dresses: Alfred Sung Halter Ruffle Neck Dress

G Fashion 2

Eh? Sequins, okay ... but this does not say scary. Powerful, maybe, but nothing to write home about, after all Georgina is supposed to be the one to fear, right?

Actual Dress: Oscar de la Renta Resort 2012 Sequin Tank Dress

Steal Dress: DV by Dolce Vita Peaches Open Back Sequin Dress

Actual Pumps: YSL Tribtoo Pump

Steal Pumps: Chinese Laundry Bossa Nova C Leather

Needless to say, we’re pumped for next Monday’s episode ... Blair in an I LOVE NY shirt and a hoodie is enough for us to go on. What would the Queen say?

Are you kidding me? Blair has neer ever looked so pretty. I mean she'l always pretty, but this time she blowed me away. And the hair is fantastic.

why isnt anybody talking about dorota???i think she looked too cute...and her earrings were lovely...any id on her dress and jewellery?? also lily also looked fab...and eleanor looked drab...bad dress & even worse jewellery!!!

I didn't know what else to call it except "off-the-rack". Now that I think about it even Blair's prom dress was one-of-a-kind in that it was produced for the runway but never for the masses. I think Blair loved the idea of marrying a Prince but not the actual man, therefore she didn't put alot of "effort" into her bridal look. Hopefully she'll do better the second time around. I found an article in the tv guide where Stephanie Savage is quoted as saying "The crew really went all out, wardrobe, makeup...it's a visually stunning episode.". I'm not sure what judgement-impairing substances she's on, but the episode was by no means visually stunning.

It also doesn't help that the two REAL royal couples were actually in love... While Blair and Louis clearly weren't. I've hated Gossip Girl's version of "royalty" from day one. Sophie, Beatrice, Louis and all their staff have been ridiculous. I've said in previous comments but I'd be pretty upset if I were a Grimaldi and some random American tv show was mocking my family for no apparent reason. Clearly there's a producer on GG with a weird obsession with Grace Kelly.

@TFV168 I think I understand your point now. You mean to say that Blair should have had a Vera Wang made just for her, not one from her previous collection. I'm in agreement with that. The "off the rack" part of your argument is where I misunderstood. You're a justified in feeling disappointed in Blair's wedding, I think we all were. The point I'm making is that the dress is hardly to blame but basically the entire tacky design plan. The hair was hideous, there's no way around it. The church was unimpressive as was the entire ceremony. In comparison to Kate and Charline, of England and Monaco respectfully, this entire "Gossip Girl royal wedding" was a massive let down. But that's what you get for trying to take on two magical weddings in 40 mins.

Yes, the wedding gowns were Vera Wang and she so fabulous, blahblahblah. My point was this is a royal wedding, and in case you didn't pay attention last year when we had TWO major royal weddings, including one in Monaco, the Brides wore custom designed one-of-a-kind gowns, not something from a past collection slightly altered by a seamstress. Why should Blair get a custom debutante dress and off-the-rack for her wedding? Ivanka Trump had a custom designed Vera Wang dress. Dylan Lauren had her father custom design her dress with help from Vera Wang. Ralph Lauren also did a custom designed dress for his daughter-in-law Lauren Bush.

we all know that real wedding of our queen B is supposed to be the most amazing thing ever. so that hair of hers... that was a sign that marriage is gonna be no good.
perfection had to wait for chair wedding.

Okay, got the right info this time. Actual wedding dress is Vera Wang Esther from Fall 2010 with the lace overlay on top removed. Gisele is the one she tried on at the boutique.

Scratch that last post please. Got confused.

Oops, sorry didn't read the rest of the post but Farrah is from Fall 2011.
