On the round table note: I know it's a detail, which has already been discussed a few episode ago, but am I the only one startled by Rufus attitude toward Ivy? Did he not heard what she said at the hospital? He never asked her any explanation! Instead of minding Dan's business, it would have been great to see him "investigate" a little and have a proper storyline which make sense...

I am not totally defending the writers because I agree that some storyline are way over the top (Royal family anyone? and other) but I would like to remind to all Chair fans who want to boycott the show because their "ship" is not represented as much as they wish (meaning every minute of every episode) that the show belong to the WRITERS and I would like to hope that they are free to write the relationships they want without being threaten by so-called fan.
but the way I see it, Chair not being endgame would be seen as a blasphemy and it make me sad to think the writers may only be leading toward this end because of all this pression. And now, when the time comes, I will not be able to stop thinking about it if (probably)Chair end up together, which is, may I add, not an idea I opposed to, if only it was because of the writers wish not the result of some pressure.

I'm bored at work and I thought I'd do one of these myself:
1.Georginia's "Under my stewardship, Gossip Girl has been a shell of her former self." At least Safran knows he sucks?
2.Wish they had continued to do a Dair friendship (a real one, like season 4) but what's done is done. The kiss was
cute. The narrative surrounding them makes no sense though so the progression is messed up. Thankfully the creators have P/L to save this like E/L did for forever and a half.
3. Should be Blerena but they'll fight and make up. GG loves to string ships along so that leaves Chair/Derena somewhat safe. I'll go with Duck. Their tentative quasi friendship will be destroyed.

But S is chosen in season 4 - this is D, and when she returned from Paris, and later before it was drugged. D got tired of waiting to determine S, and rude immigration Ben in the attic to D. N had no chance to duel with D over S, it was gambled away at the end of season 3.

Anonymous you are right. D now does not care whether S would forgive him, but when the marriage of B is completed, all tickets will be on the table, then B will have to choose between D and C. I wonder who they will choose, and since B is a snob and not love the Brooklyn the answer itself imposes. Then D will remain alone and it will be too late to seek forgiveness from S.

@Zoran Serena could've made her choice last year if she was so in love with him. Dan clearly doesn't really care about her, I guess it's supposed to be similar to how Serena led him and Nate on last year.
Zoran
February 15th, 2012 11:41 AM
S is itself brought into this situation back in season 4 when Ben was chosen instead of D. But D is also a hypocrite because he did not immediately responded to the statement of love S. Unfortunately S leads futile battle for D, but the only thing in this moment she can do - no other choice.

@Zoran That's because they are half siblings, their parents are married and they share a half brother no matter how much the writers try to ignore it.
The show started off with Derena and then quickly changed into the Chair show with Derena in the background.
Dan doesn't really care about Serena, so it really doesn't matter if she forgives him or not.

The whole series revolves around the S / D, C / B and N, which is now with one now with the other. B should not have save the surprise for S if it is already in love with D. It was supposed to continue where she left off in season 4 of the first kisses to the D. S is reasonably angry at B and D. But she would later forgive this fiasco B (she is her best friend, as in 1 season), but it will not do to D.
I do not understand why they constantly emphasize that the S and D half-brother and half sister when you have no genetic relationship to each other. And they themselves are no longer referred to.

@db - I'm really not saying that Serena doesn't care about anyone. I know that she does. I just don't like how the first thing Serena thought was that Blair kissed Dan for revenge. She always acts like the world is spinning around her. She stabbed her best friend in the back and then shipped herself away without even saying goodbye. She came back, got into a relationship with a decent guy and ruined it by lying about her past. Then she had a series of relationships with two teachers, a married guy and her best friend's ex (again). And when Dan actually wanted to be with her and waited for her for God knows how long, she decided to break the world record of being undecided. Now, out of nowhere, she decides that she still loves him and gets mad at Blair like it's Blair's fault that Dan finally moved on. I'm sorry, I'm just not buying it.

@db Serena is self centered, especially after what happened with Nate in Season 1. Blair is also being selfish and was stupid for leading Serena on.
Serena also told Blair that it wasn't her in this episode.
@anon Blair kissed him back, she could've stopped it if she wanted to and she knew Serena was trying to find Dan.
Blair humiliated Louis, she constantly cheated on her fiancee with Chuck and then expects Louis to take it, she wanted to be in this loveless marriage, she has no 1 but herself to blame for this mess.
@Where's Waldorf It's actually very common. It's been done before, it's the whole girl meets bad/mysterious bad boy who has a dark, tragic past and she thinks that she can change him, 1 of them makes up excuses on why they wouldn't work together, the other pathetically pines for the other person.
It's been done time and time again, it's a cliche in romantic fantasies like Twilight.

@Zoran They still share a step sibling and their parents are still married no matter how much fans and the writers want to forget that. Season 3 pretty much ruined their relationship, compare how they are now to how they were in Seasons 1 and 2.
That's what makes it so awkward, why do you think Serena wanted her mom to be with Chuck's dad? It's so she could be with Dan in Season 1, but it didn't work out that way.
@Uncle Jackass The Vampire Diaries isn't nearly as bad. I'm tamer compared to the other whiny shippers.
@CC And because the entire show now revolves around relationship drama, everything else suffers in terms of story/plot/character development.
@someone Because the writers needed to string along the viewers and the fans complained about it being boring when in Season 3 when they did get together.

Chair ARE NOT a cliche!
Chuck and Blair are two of the most unique characters on TV. They had similar parents, so their inner complex is similar. Hence they have constant sexy power struggles with each other. Yet they are on opposite sides of Upper East Side. Blair is a society girl and Chuck a playboy. It's never done on tv Dair has been done. The bitch and loser (Seth and Summer, the O.C). The idea of best friends in love has been overused(Joey and Dawson)
Gossip Girl is meant to be unrealistically entertaining. Friends fall in love from having common interests all the time, its too close to home. We watch this show for its heightened sense of reality. Chair is out of this world. Their limits are beyond what real people will ever experience. They're supposed to be crazy! Its what this show is about. If I wanted to watch something that would give me an example of an everyday relationship I would watch OTH

I forgot the symbolic object the "tie". Since 4x12 episode, the tie is used to bond them. It's more funny to thing about the word "tie" as signifier-signified (I hope I used the right translation "signifiant-signifié". It's linguistic and psychology concept). Like Chuck wearing is scarf, by the way, why is he wearing it ? He's not at the party.
