A two-part episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, launching next Tuesday, won’t only delve into Kensi's background.

“At one point, for a period of time, Granger (played by Miguel Ferrer) and Hetty were partners on a task force together. So there is very much past history between those two,” show-runner Shane Brennan told TV Line.

And as viewers will see over the next two Tuesdays, “If you think you know why Granger is in Los Angeles, you’re wrong. He’s in town for a very specific reason, and it plays out through sweeps.”

In the episode, titled "Blye, K.", the searches for new evidence to prove Kensi’s innocence after she is taken into custody as the lead suspect in a murder investigation involving her deceased father’s sniper unit.
