The Big Bang Theory Review: Whipped

by at . Comments

[whip cracks]

Aww ... The Big Bang Theory boys are growing up. Well, not really, but they are all in relationships now, except for poor Raj. A girlfriend is supposed to mean sacrifices, but that definitely doesn't lead to the same thing for all of our geeks.

Leonard and Penny's "beta test" relationship has been going well. This time around they are open with each other and truly understanding of each other. Her disinterest in the guy weekend made sense. She's been there and seen it. Leonard lucked out this time.

Playing Video Games

Sheldon and Howard weren't nearly as fortunate, though.

Howard was trapped by his delayed answer to Bernadette. She got a new laptop, a game and some precious time with the guys! Hey, Penny has joined them before, why not Bernadette? Umm, wow, Bernie!

Bernadette and her sounds effects were hilarious, but were also enough to drive anyone crazy. I'm surprised that Sheldon didn't absolutely lose it. Then again, he is the one that ditched his girlfriend to play video games. I mean, come on, she even followed the requirements of the Relationship Agreement. Harsh, Sheldon!

Sheldon's ignorance of sarcasm worked in his favor this time. He used Amy's words against her and ditched her aunt's party to join the guys. And, even after Amy's rampage, he was saved by Raj. I hope that Amy brings this up in the future to make Sheldon do something she wants!

But the moment of the weekend came unexpectedly from Raj. He finally lost it. His outburst has been a long time coming. This was his moment!

Raj: But e-excuse me, I have something to say. None of you may realize it, but I was very much looking forward to this weekend. It was gonna be like the old days -- the four of us hanging out, playing video games, before you guys all got girlfriends. Do you have any idea what its like to the be the only one without a girlfriend? Even if I get one someday, I'll still be the guy who got a girl after Sheldon Cooper! | permalink

You have to feel for the guy. He has been left behind by his friends figuratively. Is it possible, this was the psychological break he needed to get over his fear of women? I'd love to see that this season. Raj dating would be comedic gold! Much better than even the awkward Sheldon.

The Big Bang Theory has done a perfect job this season incorporating phone apps into its episodes and the whip app was no exception. Howard may have introduced them to the app, but Sheldon definitely got the hang of using it against him.

Which was your favorite use of the app? In the comic store when Sheldon didn't understand its meaning? When Howard told the guys Bernadette would be joining them? When Howard agreed to dress his avatar in a purple robe? When Sheldon agrees to go to Science Center with Amy? Or, when Howard's mother showed up to bring him home?

Check out some of those funny moments and others from "The Weekend Vortex" in our section of The Big Bang Theory quotes.

, there are some things that gtvnos should be able to keep secret for obvious reasons. Preemptive attacks and proportional response strategies come to mind. The latest batch of leaks indeed highlight the level of corruption and dissension within that particular govnt, but anyone who's followed the administration's run cannot be surprised by it. The most promising American President in a while is being held down by his own nosepicking party. But I digress. I don't think there are many people out there, regular people like you and me, who've actually read through all the hundred upon thousands of pages and can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that there is nothing there that could endanger people's lives more than they previously were. I'm willing to bet on the contrary. There is a difference between transparency and confidentiality. Last but not least, the only thing I find amusing about this clusterfuck is that the people they're outing, aka the CIA are the same people who would have poisoned him, shot him in the head and propped his arse at the steering wheel of a flaming car doing 100 mph on the edge of a cliff back in the good old days. So I'm going to go with: See, that's progress, right there!

Yup, they definitely has something to do with Raj. He's cute and good character, make him gay, make him alcoholic, just don't leave him like this - pathetic!
And I also liked Bernie, but she's becoming super annoying, and I don't know how in the world she can tolerate Howard's sick dependence on his mother, that definitely is not funny anymore, it's creepy!
With each episode, I change my opinion about Amy haha, I don't know anymore do I like her, is she being over dramatic, annoying , irritating, cute... or do I feel sorry for her.
Penny and Leonard... same as always, I like 'em =)
And Sheldon, I love this guy so much ♥
Ooooh and Stuart, I think they should give him a greater role ^^

The writers really need to find a cure for Raj's issues or lose him. He's gone from sad but cute, to simply pathetic. They've had the other guys grow (a bit), but Raj is stuck where he started.

Is anyone else still having a problem with being angry at Leonard with how horribly he treated Penny during that annoying Pria plotline? Banning her from the group, yet still having her wait on him and Pria at the CKF? I still find it difficult to like him or see him as anything but an insensitive jerk.

The whip app is like the LBD, every girl needs one!

@MB I completely agree. Chuck Lorre must be misogynistic because in two and a half men, the women are ALSO very prone to women stereotypes. Yeah, I agree, Raj needs to talk. Or just let him become an alcoholic and therefore he can always talk to women!

This is the last BBT show I'll watch! It wasn't funny but more importantly the writers can not write 'women' to save their lives! Women in this show have always been one dimensional props with many of the jokes making them bossy or manipulative or needy. I'm just sick of it, when Leonard said women like a firm hand even the laugh track seemed nervous. And for crying out like the Raj can't talk joke is too old, let it go.

The whip wasn't funny. The first time Sheldon used it was funny. Sheldon was super mean to Amy. Bernadette was super annoying. I hope something happens with Raj and dating. Penny correcting Amy and then saying there's no difference between Wars and Trek was funny.

Congrats to Leonard and Penny for being the least annoying couple of the night. Their scene was easily one of the best of the night, second only to Raj's rant and Sheldon's whip to Howard being picked up by his mom. I used to like Bernadette, but nothing she does anymore is funny in any way. I liked the attempt to bring things back to the way things used to be in Season 1 and 2, but it fell a little short of the mark. 8/10

Am I the only one having problem with paranormaly quick Sheldon's hair regrowth? Probably its my own "sheldonish" pedantism...
