Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

Welcome back to TV Fanatic's Grey's Anatomy Round Table!

Our official Grey's Anatomy review broke down last week's episode, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," in great detail. Now, TV Fanatic staffers Courtney Morrison, Sean McKenna and Christina Tran have assembled for their weekly Round Table discussion to further debate and dissect the goings on at Seattle Grace/Mercy West.

Read their answers below and weigh in with yours!

1. Alex made the situation clear to Morgan. Was he too harsh or did he do the right thing?

Courtney: Sometimes the truth hurts. Morgan needs a friend and someone she can depend on, it doesn’t have to be romantic. If Alex is not interested in being a part of her life in that way then he did the right thing. It doesn’t mean he still can't be a good friend to her.

Sean: I don't think Alex was harsh at all, rather than enabling her or leading her on, he put a stop to their dizzy dance. He manned up and was direct, even if it did hurt her. Her son was the important thing she should be worried about, not Alex.

Christina: I’m going with the latter. In fact, I thought it was very grown up of him to stand his ground and not sugarcoat anything with Morgan. She needed to be reminded that her son was the most important thing at that given moment.

2. Should Mark move in with Julia or should Lexie tell him how she feels?

Courtney: Lexie needs to make a move!! Mark still totally loves her, Derek even said it. She will end up regretting not saying anything so it’s better to get it out in the open.

Sean: Lexie needs to make a move or call it quits for real. I'm a little tired of her moping and longing in the background. I know she wants Mark but I'd like to see her put her focus on something other than whether or not she gets to be with a guy. There's so much more to her than that.

Christina: As a total Slexie fan, I think Lexie should totally tell Mark how she feels. However, Derek definitely made a point that she needs to decide whether or not her feelings are the result of Mark’s newfound relationship or the fact that she really does still love him.

3. Was the “lion as a pet” too ridiculous of a story for this show?

Courtney: Absolutely. Not as ridiculous as Izzie working on the deer though. But realistically, there is no way someone has a lion of that size as a pet in her home. Just not happening.

Sean: I know people have had pet alligators, etc., that you stop and think "Really? Are they insane?" As for the story, it was really pushing the boundaries of this show. No more lions (or deer) please.

Christina: In short, yes.

4. Who did Owen cheat on Cristina with?

Courtney: I have no idea!! It’s been driving me crazy since he first admitted to the affair. I’m thinking it is someone we don’t know at all, maybe someone he met in the bar?

Sean: No idea. I almost think it would be better it is no one we know because then the issue is more centered on his cheating and not who he cheated with.

Christina: I’m clueless on this one, but also thinking on the same lines as Courtney.

5. Rate the awesomeness of Cristina throwing her food in Owen’s face.

Courtney: On a scale of 1-10 ... 11. Cristina Yang = pure awesomeness.

Sean: Sorry Courtney and Christina, I have to go with not cool. I get that Owen is clearly in the wrong, but if they aren't going to get past it, they need to end it rather than further hurting each other. Shocking move by throwing it? Sure, but it's a bigger move to end their relationship.

Christina: Super awesome! A solid 10 for sure!

The funniest part of the scene after the "big reveal" of Arizona's "number" was when they were back at the apartment. In her confusion Arizona looks down at Callies hands unzipping her and says "I thought we were fighting..." Callie cocks her head and says with a slight smile, "Oh, we TOTALLY are..." All the while Callie has been approaching and Arizona has back-pedaled across the room. The scene is written perfectly so by the time Callie starts to plant a kiss on Arizona they are all the way to the other side of the room. Callie is turning Arizona away from the camera so we only catch a glimpse of the kiss as they disappear behind the wall. We hear Arizona giggle a couple of times and a low chuckle from Callie. Season after season and it seems we may never get a deep, passionate, onscreen kiss between them . But we're not going to let the writers and ABC think we don't notice how the hetero scenes are written vs the lesbian scenes. How far off is equality?

Kinda strange no one is mentioning the big reveal of Arizona's "number" and all that entailed. Was she exaggerating? Did she really sleep with all those women? Is she the female equivalent of Mark Sloan in the "do 'em and ditch 'em" department? And how funny was the last scene where Callie walks in to a nervous Arizona who was expecting a big fight? The audience could see from the minute Callie opened the door with that tell-tale smirk on her mouth and a glint in her eye what she had on her mind. And it wasn't about having a fight with Arizona. But Arizona was being especially dense. She didn't even catch on with Callie approaching and dropping her clothes on the floor. Not even when Callie pulled off her shirt and was down to her hot-pink bra did Arizona break eye-contact to pause from her nervous excuse-making. She didn't even look down at Callie's beautiful bod at that point? It wasn't until Callie assured her a couple of times by saying "I understand" then reached out to unzip Arizona's sweater did the light finally start to dawn on her. The funniest part of the scene was when in her confusion Arizona frowned and said, "I thought we were fighting". Callie cocks her head and with the slightest smile says, "Oh, we TOTALLY are...." All the while Callie has been taking step after step towards a back-pedaling Arizona. The scene was timed perfectly for the two of them to disappear behind the wall just as Callie plants a kiss on a giggling Arizona. As usual it's not a long passionate kiss. Those are still reserved only for the heteros on this show. (And we don't want the writers or ABC to think this hasn't been noticed.)

Why would any1 think owen slept w april (I hope not I want her w jakson)

I think Owen slept with April.

Cristina throwing her food in Owen's face... ugh!! Lame!! Should've had a build up then had her hit something or toss a table... or, wait better yet... a a gradual volume swell using some discordant minor tone... then had her YELL!! (& maybe hit something... throwing food... lame lame lame... & super lame... lol

1) The delivery was harsh but the truth usually hurts and Morgan does need to toughen up in her situation.
2) If Lexie wants her guy back she should stop hiding in the corners. She may have tried to make a move but always backed out. Guys are stupid, they need to hear the truth or won´t know it at all.
3) Well, rumor has it that Mike Tyson has a pet tiger so I don´t think it´s that far fetched. I would find it weird that nobody called animal control in 15 years though. As somebody pointed out, she lived in a 2-storey townhouse, not out in the burbs....but it´s TV, so I let it slide. Made for a good story.
4) I saw the promo so no mystery there anymore.
5) 10! Couldn´t stop laughing. It was harsh (and I bet that Owen felt like doing something similar or more when she first told him her plans for their offspring but he still deserved it for every stupid thing he said about women in general and of course, the cheating, afterwards. Felt no pity there...

Y'all keep talking about how the deer and lion storylines were so ridiculous. I would bet it happens more than you would think. I don't know the laws in Washington state and it's been awhile since I looked at them for Texas, but I'm pretty sure that in Texas if you can get an animal into the state you can keep it without permits. There is a ranch in my hometown that has zebras, giraffes, and African antelope. Not an exotic animal ranch, but kind of like in the guy's (rather big) yard. We have a few exotic animal ranches around here. I don't find a person keeping a lion odd at all. I don't even think Izzie caring for a deer is that far outside the realm of possibility. Also, Christina Yang = awesome.

I think it was right of Alex to stand his ground against Morgan. She needed to make the decision about her son on her own, not based off what Alex would do. As for Lexie and Mark, she needs to quit moping around and do some soul searching. She made the decision to leave Mark when his daughter and grandson were living there and now that Mark is with Julia, I think Lexie is secretly jealous because Julia is living the life Lexie was supposed to havewith Mark. As for Owen and Christina, he was wrong for having an affair and Christina was kind of wrong for throwing food in his face. If they aren't going to work it out then they need to end things and torture themselves any further. A lion for a pet is a little ridiculous, but i made a good story line.. I love Grey's and will keep watching it as long as it runs!

1,Sometimes it has to hurt when the truth is told,Morgan lacks any support & has invested too much responsibilty on Alex.Alex was right.
2. Der was right to say to Lexie be sure she didn't want Mark back because he's with someone else. But Mrk was hoping Lex would have that conversation that was postponed on Valentines day
3.Well it allows the docs to treat different injuries in the OR!
4.The promos for 8.19 give it away!
5.I hope it helped Cristina to feel better.I hope she reclaims the strength she found when Burke left her at the alter

1 - Alex did the right thing because she was becoming too dependent on him and after all he isn’t her boyfriend or the baby's father. He did very well in setting limits. 2 - I don’t care about them. For me would be perfect if Lexie met a nice guy and stay with him and Julia leave Mark and he stay alone forever and leave town. 3 - It isn’t ridiculous. In the world exist a lot of people with this type of "pets". 4 - I don't care with this stupid marriage. She deserves better and I want old Cristina back, not a depressed one. 5 - 20. Just awesome

Grey's Anatomy Season 8 Episode 18 Quotes

I was staring at Simba.

We have a phrase in the operating room. Don't pet the lion. It means no matter how nice a tumor looks, how small it is, how perfect it's margins may be, it's still a tumor. It's still dangerous and it can bite.
